BLUF:
Springwater R&G club will be hosting a rimfire snipe match on 03MAY. To goal is to simulate a full-bore sniper competition. The ballistics of a 22LR are nearly identical to the 7.62X51 at 1/4 scale, the bullet drop of a 7.62 at 800 yards is VERY close to the drop of a 22LR at 200 yards. This is the basis of the match.
1/4 sized steel silhouettes, both E and F military type will be positioned at unknown distances across the range fro 50 to 200 yards. Shooter will need to range target, apply 'dope' and engage the target under time (windage & elevation). First round hit = 10 points. Second round hit = 5 points. Any hit thereafter is just noise, hot brass & good feelings.
We also are hoping to have one MOVING target, laterally (3 to 9 & back again), on about a 20 foot track.
You will be teamed up with another competitor to serve as spotter, and switch positions.
For the first match, each shooter will be provided with a range card, if they desire.
Shooters NEED to know their bullet drop (aka DOPE) out to 200 yds. Range estimation errors of only 15 yards can take you off the target, and on MY rifle, the turret gets one full spin (60 clicks) from 50 yard point of impact to 200yd POI.
Wea re also looking to teach a quick 'stadiametric' ranging (big college word for 'how do I use a mil-dot scope') clinic prior to, or shortly after the match.
We are asking for PRE-REGISTRATIONS ONLY.....
