  • KIDD 10/22 BOLT REVIEW/COMPARISON TO STOCK BOLT

Bought a KIDD bolt for my 10/22 build and figured I would post a comparison.

Black bolt on the left is the KIDD which is CNCed from billet. The stock one is cast. You can really see the difference in the quality of the machining. the Kidd is super slick. You can see the stock firing pin is a stamped part and how rough it is. The KIDD is wire EDM cut and precision ground and hardened. (I wanted a black one so it cost more, story of my life)

The KIDD has a stainless extractor plunger and spring. The firing pin is also held in by a spring roll pin where the stock one is a split roll pin.

The stock firing pin is staked in on the top of the bolt and flops all around. The KIDD has a cross pin that holds it down near the bolt face and has no play side to side or up and down.

The KIDD bolt is machined true and has been headspaced. The KIDD also comes with a heat treated convex extractor. This will help pull the cases out of the tighter Bentz chamber on my build which can be a issue with a stock one. You can see the slop in the stock firing pin, the one in the KIDD is precision ground and will only move in and out.

The KIDD bolt has a smoother and longer radius on the bottom where it rides the hammed when cycling. Note the large space that the factory firing pin has to move around in.

I'm very happy with this upgrade and would be a huge improvement in any Ruger 10/22. It's a work of art compared to a stock bolt!

Great comparison. Ill be interested to see how much better it actually perform's. I would be interested to see an accuracy comparison between the 2.
