  • Picked up 2 new rifles recently

I had a few dollars to spend in January and decided to expand on my vintage rimfire and target rifle collection. I was able to find 2 nice examples of some rifles I was looking for.

1st up is a beautiful Mossberg 144 LSA. Made from 1960-1979.

2nd up is a Remington 341-p model. The "P" stands for "peep sight". They were made 1936-1940 and predate the "5 teen series" of rifles (510,511,512,513). According to Remington approx 131,604 were produced. I really like this model due to the "lifter" system it uses to load the rounds into the chamber. The rounds come out of the tube mag into a cool lifter, the lifter rises straight up cradling the round inside. When you close the bolt it pushes the round perfectly into the chamber effortlessly and without touching the bullet on the chamber. It is said that is what makes these rifles so accurate for just a sporter rifle is because the bullet stays perfectly intact and no lead gets shaved off like a traditional rifle will do sometimes during loading.

They can't stop us let them try. For heavy metal we will die!!!

Snowflakes are great!!! You can roll them around into a giant mass and shove a carrot in their ........

a couple of nice classic 22's. old 22's like these really touch a soft spot for me as not a big fan of plastic. i might locktite (blue ) the screws on the rear sight of the 341 just to be on the safe side. they are real hard to find a replacement for and expensive when you do. not sure if i still have my moss 144 but won a match years ago with an old 46b with a 3/4" scope. great to see people who still have an interest in the older guns.

        ( L>R ) win 63, win 75 sporter and win 61

WM, kudos on a couple of real nice rifles there.
I'm also a huge fan of walnut. I guess there's a time and place for synthetic, but my preference is definitely wood.

                Thanks guys.

Jonboy: I am really into the older metal and walnut 22's. I have a pretty decent collection of them. Always trying to find nice ones to shoot and add to the collection. I am a big fan of the mossbergs and Remington's.

it's pretty exciting for me to come across pieces that are 30-60 years old ( or older ) that in in great condition. makes me wonder how they made it so long unscathed. easy to bang stuff going back and forth in the safe.

You got that right. That Remington 341-p is 79 years old this June. I bet it still shoots better then a lot of new production guns out there. Much better made also.
