  • I want a 22LR complete upper CMMG, DPMS Mixed with S&W MP15-22 mags

I'm currently in the market for a new 22LR upper. I love my MP15-22 and it has the best damn 22LR mags on the planet; hands down. So there is something called the "Better-Mag II" which goes into the magwell of any milspec lower allowing it to accept the MP15-22 mags and it also holds open on last round getting as close to simulating larger caliber training with an AR as possible.

So, I had bought Rangers DPMS upper and man it was accurate and felt like quality but one of my best buds wanted it so i pretty much gave it to him.

Dilemma is that the bettermag setup doesn't work with DPMS uppers (even though they use BlackDog mags. Has to do with the bolt assembly not playing nice).

So, I was considering grabbing a CMMG complete upper.... Has 1:16 twist needed for better accuracy with a 22LR, accepts swmp15-22 mags, etc.

Anyone own or have used the CMMG product (16")? Gonna use for plinking, drills, small game, etc. I already own an MP15-22 but the girl uses that and I what something heavier, more realistic for me as far as weight goes.

I also considered the CMMG BCG retrofit kit but a few things sway me from it....twist rate on my 5.56 uppers are all 1:7, rather not lead them up, plus both piston so not sure how they would play into it. I know it won't really state piston but def into messing with it. Dedicated upper is best for my needs.

I've heard the same thing about .22 conversion kits. Rimfire ammunition is dirty and will foul the gas system on an AR. Twist rate and bore diameter on a .223 aren't correct for .22 rimfire.

I've got a Bushmaster A2 .22 upper that I converted to a national match configuration. The thing is accurate and super reliable. If only I actually put in more practice time with it.

To bad I still did not have the 2 DPMS I had awhile back that I sold I could have sold you one..one was the bull barrel and the other was a non bull barrel..
I could probably could get away with a 52 inch shaft but if I could get a 54 inch shaft that would be great as I could always adjust the length of the shaft

Match front sight post. Match hooded rear aperture. NM float tube under the hand guard with full length lead weight.
