  • Ruger 10/22 Optic

I took an older couple out to the range for their first shooting experience today. They had purchased a Ruger 10/22 to learn how to shoot. I've never messed with a 10/22's factory sights before, and found that my eyesight in my right eye is bad enough that the factory notch sights are pretty much useless. With my left eye I could get a decent sight picture, but it became apparent that the woman I was trying to teach was struggling to see the notch sights. After some experimentation, we found a method that got her on the paper at 25 yards and she was very happy about that. After recognizing that that factory sights were really limiting her shooting, she asked about a scope. Based on discussing things with them, it seemed that they're more concerned about self defense and basic shooting than high precision, so I suggested a red dot sight and they seemed into the idea.

Anyone have any hot suggestions for a red dot that would work well on a 10/22? I figured I'd send them links to some options at a few different price points. Wasn't sure if any of you guys had any really hot ideas.

I have a red dot on my 10/22 but it’s been awhile since I looked at it. It might be a Primary Arm’s. I like their stuff

On my last 10/22, and I just bought a newer one for my SKS.

        https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

about $10-15 more than it used to be, but the only one I've ever owned under $100 that id buy over and over again.

My first one was around $50, came with lower quality packaging, now that it costs more it the packaging is better and has a big logo that says "Lifetime ironclad Warranty" the other one only had a 1 year Warranty.

Works on the stock 10/22 scope rail?

Just saw it is pictured atop a Ruger 10/22 on the Bushnell website, so I'm guessing that's a yet on stock rail compatibility.

How does it work? Is it garbage or good enough?

            Good enough. It’s a plinker.
If I wanted more from my 10/22 (small game) I’d probably go for a 4x scope

This seems like the perfect solution. I'm just nervous about getting a counterfeit chinesium version since most major retailers seem to be out of stock.

I'm assuming the scope rail that comes with the rifle is a weaver? I don't want to make a recommendation and then run into rail compatibility issues.

Depends on the model, but all the 10/22 receivers have the screw holes for the rail. The link was right form my amazon purchase history, I bought this one January 5th.
