Can anyone recommend certain powders and primers or even let me know which ones to stay away from?

    Looking mostly for 9 mm, 45, .380, and 223/5.56.

Also where are best places to buy them? I can still buy online right?
www.AvidArms.com I'm STIHL out of conditioner!!
Finally joined the ranks of broke homeowner
Am I short stroking or going to fast?

I personally use Winchester and CCI Primers. I know some people like Remington. I use whatever powders I can get my hands on. Accurate Arms, IMR, Winchester, Hodgon powders a hard to find around here these days.

You can still order online. Last shipment I received was from Cabelas. Again, whatever is available. Shipping has a $30 extra Haz-Mat fee. I would look at what loads you want to reload for, see what powders work (from a book) and see if there are any common loads. Some powders will work for 380/9/45, although one powder may work better for one round over the other.

      Locally Beikirchs...
ask for a bulk discount. If you want I will go with you.

Rifle powders: H4895, Varget and R15 ... very consistent and popular.
Pistol you can use a wide range of powders like power pistol, universal, unique etc....
This is a chart to give you just an approximation of suitable powders. These charts are not 100% accurate so once you are in the bulk area
then check for loads with the manufacturer....

CCI primers are great. Also get some #41 or BR primers if you want to reload 5.56 to nato specs/pressures.

Bulk is best. If you can get my bulk discount it will be cheaper than anything you can find online anywhere.
Perhaps a few exceptions if you want to buy some plated bullets but with the hornady bulk deals the plated bullets are not worthy.
Consider a 357 SIG barrel vs. 40 caliber so you can buy bullets that will feed this and the 9mm and this way consolidate.
Once fired brass is dirt cheap and I think you save over time. Plus even for carry it is a better caliber for my taste.

          Consolidation!

...otherwise you are going to end up like me... going nuts..

HP-38/Winchester 231 is a great Pistol Powder I load 32,380,9x18 Ultra and 45 all with it. Very clean burning powder if you can find it. Titegroup is another one with a lot of caliber crosses. Alliant powders are hard to come by in my area but Hogdon seems a lot more available around here in the Buffalo area.

I need to check out Buffalo. Beikerchs in Rochester usually has IMR and Accurate and I never seen Hodgon or Alliant there.

I think I'm going to try and load 223 first and I read you get around 280 rounds per pound of powder for 223.

Field and Stream in Henrietta has Winchester and CCI primers, the CCI are spotty but the Winchesters are always in stock. We'll talk more when I see you this weekend....
Beer is like porn, you can buy it but it's more fun to make your own

I've got a ton of components but unfortunately can't ship powder or primers. If you want anything let me know. Maybe a camping weekend in LG in August?
