OK guys I need to cut down some pistol brass a lot. I want to possibly cut down 38 Super Comp brass to 9x18 size. What is the best way to do this, I do not need to do any case trimming on what I currently reload. I want to use the 38 Super Comp (not regular 38 Super) brass because of the rim and it is the correct diameter. I believe the standard 9mm rim will be too big for my needs. I am trying to make brass for 9x18 Ultra not Mak. I have 500 factory rounds coming so I will have some factory 9x18 brass to work with for a while. I just want to have a back up plan in case Fiocchi stops making it all together. What exactly is needed to do this correctly. Sorry I am not familiar with cutting or trimming brass. Thanks .

Believe you just need a case trimmer but sounds like a job for Meketrefe to respond to. I have the Dillon electric trimmer but it needs a die in the same size as the case you need. Doubt they would make on for that but you never know. They sell hand operated lathes or ones that you attach to drill. Good luck.

not helpful with the brass question but did find this while googling around: http://www.brassfetcher.com/Handguns...%20Police.htmlBeer is like porn, you can buy it but it's more fun to make your own
I have to bend over too far
I get a boner.
bareback every couple of days, GTG. Bareback, brokeback, same $hit!

Thanks thughes, I have been researching this cartridge and have seen much of this info but not this write up. Its everything in one spot.I met am Old Tymer probably in his early 80s who said he used to shoot and load these and they are a nasty round when loaded hot. My Walther PP Super is built like a tank.
Just noticed his test was with a 2.5 inch barrel and he was getting some high velocities, my gun has a 4 inch barrel so I should get some nice loads and more velocity. I will be loading them with HP-38.Last edited by Morts; 03-22-2015, 10:03 AM.

You're welcome. I was just trying to figure out who all the players were: .380, 9 Mak, 9 Luger, 9 Police, 9 Ultra, 9 Browning, etc. Too damn confusing for me.Beer is like porn, you can buy it but it's more fun to make your own

What you have to cut is not a lot in terms of brass making/wildcatting specially in the rifle brass making department it would be consider minimal.
I think for trimming the brass you could use the above suggested Forster lathe that can also be fitted with their amazing 3 way cutter so there is no need for chanfering and deburring. this is the only 3 way that truly works consistently. For pistol the 3 way RCBS might do ok too. Both can take adapters for motorized operation using a drill or a proprietary power station.
If on a budget another great method to easitly cut brass is the lee trimmer and pilot that you can run on a drill press or even a regular powered dril, ideally with a speed control so it doesn't run too fast.
The only issue with the super comp brass is that you might need to bet an inside reamer to allow enought space for the bullet as the more you trim the ticker the brass gets so I am not sure but something to consider. You might want to consider 9mm as the donor that will not require inside reaming but migth want to swag the rims a bit for more reliable operation. But the 9mm after re-sized might work just fine in your pistol depending on the 380 pistol you have. Turning down the rims can be also easily done on a mini lathe or a drill using a jig.
It is a shame when people demanding tolerance, have no tolerance

9 Ultra is the same as 9 Police. Sometimes also called 9 Super. Its an oddball and you will probably never see a gun chambered in it again, the Sig 230 is also chambered in 9x18 Ultra they are very pricey and rare, I believe only like 5 guns ever came chambered in 9x18 Ultra/Police. Walther only produced about 9K total in 9x18. It was a nice addition to my PP and PPK/s. You just dont see them.

Brass is not available anywhere. thughes they only produce the Ultra now and only Fiocchi makes it. On the box it actually says Ultra/Police.
Shot it today and its a dream to shoot compared to my PPK/s in 380. Very accurate and recoil was very light.

Try a 9mm brass to see if the face extractor would sit well. If so all you need to do is to trim a little and resize.
I have no experience with this casing in particular but based on the differences it should work even better than the 38 super comp.
