  • Interested in personal reloading software?

I current store all of my loads into powerpoint, with a nice slide for each item. I have a background in writing software. I am considering creating a reloading library that will allow you to store all your pertinent information on your PC, generate print outs (take your recipes to the reloading room, or share them), export data to excel, and maybe add a few calculators or statistics. I would provide the program for free.

Is this interesting to anyone? Is there something like this currently?

I use excel. I have math there that I have been using for 25 years so I do my own calculations and adjustments. You can do anything with excel and on top you can customize for easy
data entry in a smart device. You can buy the software but nothing will give the flexibility of your own tool. The downside is that it requires a substantial overhead to customize but
at the same time you do not need to make it too complex to start with and build over time.
If you just want the ballistics software then there are many but by incorporating ballistics forumlas in the workbook you can now have a view of the entire lifecycle of your loads.
Powerpoint will do nothing for you. If you want I can share a template with the basic information you want to record and from there you can customize.
IMO excel is the best method. you even have interfaces to get the data from the chrono (Speed data) and bring it into excel is a snap.
You can also use open office so it is free.
It is a shame when people demanding tolerance, have no tolerance

I will post a couple of screenshots when the time comes. I am planning on making the data base searchable and sortable. With ability to add images of powders and projectiles.

Interested but I'm a Linux/LibreOffice guy.....will this be cross-platform or do you develop solely for Microsoft?
Beer is like porn, you can buy it but it's more fun to make your own

I have to bend over too far

            I get a boner.

I joined a support group to help me deal with my social anxiety but I just can't seem to work up the nerve to go to a meeting......

Excel does all that for you and much more. Plus the benefit of having eveything in the most popular spreadsheet tool in the planet that is also fully integrated with other database, .net, java and whatever you want really.
Again to start you do not need to worry about formats as it is more about having the main repository started and basic forumulas in a way that is fast and flexible. So you can start with open office, google cloud or what ever. it doesn't matter.

As Mek said, if you can get 'er done in Google Docs then everybody can use it regardless of platform.....Windows, Linux, Mac, tablet, phone, etc. That would be cool.

It is coming guys. I need to clean the master workbook or people will go crazy. So I am going to provide a good starting point for most folks then
everyone can add or remove columns and filter / group as they wish.
Later I will release a light version of a calculator so folks will have a three fold all integrated... Components repository, Reload data and Shooting logs.

FYI. I taught myself how to program in Java, so I should be able to make the program multi-platform! It will use Java 8 with a JavaFX user interface. I will report back when I have some progress on the GUI. I am focusing on the library aspect of it right now, e.g. loading and saving components to disk in xml (text) format.

I didn't forget about the workbook. I was really busy with work the last few days plus I just need to do some more cleaning so it is an easy baseline for people to fill out.

Slow, but steady progress. Think itunes for your reloading data.
