  • Reloading .223/5.56 components looking scarce

As a friendly public service announcement, with the "new" revelations of all 5.56 is demonic, no surprise that there would be a run on components as well.

My go to bullets are Xtreme Bullets: they are OUT of .224
RMR has some in stock, but is running 2 weeks out.

If you reload this caliber, i suggest getting some soon.

It's been quite some time since they've been readily available as far as I can tell. Hornady 75gr HPBT Match bullets have been hit or miss for a few years now at the local stores.

    Praying things get better.

I just posted this on the Dark Side. fyi...

For folks looking for average plinking bullets the 1K value packs here are available...

Armscor Bullets 22 Cal (224 Diameter) 55 Grain Full Metal Jacket Boat

But I suggest to sign up (backorder) for the hornady 55gr 6,000 units value pack that is the best deal and the best 55gr fmj bullet in the market (super consistent)....
Hornady Bullets 22 Cal (224 Diameter) 55 Grain Full Metal Jacket Boat

For a multi purpose use this Priv 62gr fmj is a great buy at 12cents/each shipped. ....
      Graf & Sons - PRVI PARTIZAN BULLET 22cal (.224) 62gr FMJBT 100/BAG

For accuracy work the 75gr hpbt 4000 unit value pack is an amazing value...
Hornady Match Bullets 22 Cal (224 Diameter) 75 Grain Hollow Point Boat

Look any of the match hornday 600 units value packs with either amax or hpbt for around $100 more or less are great match winning bullets.
The alternative to the awesome 500 unites 69gr SMK value pack is the 600 units hornday 68gr hpbt value pack that loads and shoots virtually the same.

The prices get better with volume/value packs so stock up.
      I hope this helps.

How bad are the blems? Do they have a channel like a barnes TSX or hpbt or they are all solid all the way?
          Thanks.

Ok thanks. If they are not too bad and have the cannlure they could be a pretty good defensive shtf long term reload.

This is typical. I wanted to buy an AR and had the money saved to get one so I ordered it ..... then ..... the princess did his communist thing and I my order was cancelled. NOW ... I'm looking at getting a .223 bolt action Savage and ... this crap happens. I can't win in this state. IF and I mean IF I get that .223 Savage, can you guys tell me what I would need, and as cheaply as possible, for reloading crap to reload .223?? (.224 ... whatever) This is horsePePeshittata.

OK they came today solid copper, spire point , boattail with no cannelure. But you can still always crimp them lightly or spin them up in a speed lathe and you know the rest.
Oh and they look real handsome for blems and they're cheap.

A light crimp is always a good idea even w/o canelure. Light means very light so there is no deformation possible. This also helps achieve more consistent starting pressures.
I was wondering about the point you said spire so it means solid no hollow point right?
                              Thanks.
