Process: Complete 1 page form and mail in with check. Receive permit back in about 1 month. Easy process.

Cost: $51

Renewal: 5 years

Required:

Copy of NYS CCW Permit
Copy of NYS Driver's License
Approved safety training course (Application must be stamped by instructor)
Fingerprint card (fingerprints may be taken at UT class)

Great info. When I did mine.... Had to do a special class by an approved Utah instructor.

I thought it still is like that?? I just did FL and renewed CT few months ago and Utah was a different class..

I took the class offered by those guys on the other site...good way to waste a couple hundred dollars. Still doesn't count for chit here where I live.

And...a couple of states have discontinued reciprocating non- resident permits like PA.

Not sure what you mean. UT application has to be stamped by a UT approved instructor. If the class you took was approved by UT, they should have accepted it. If it wasn't but you were told it was, you should get your money back.

Comment about PA isn't entirely accurate. For example, a NH non-resident permit is still good in PA. PA non resident is so easy to get though, anybody who needs one should get it IMO.

Click on Utah and you will see that PA does not honor non-resident permits.....from Utah

Posted same link in OP. Click NYS "Resident" then NH - PA is GTG. I know that PA no longer accepts UT Non-Resident (and didn't add PA as one of the states that you pickup with UT in OP).

Gotcha...NH permit is an odd one to get, but it seems that it works for PA.

Honestly, I don't even know why I got the whole Utah/Az/FLA permit in the first place. I would rather just have Full carry/no restrictions here in NY!

Hey all: As a certified Utah Instructor, I can offer this....you have to attend the specified course given by a Utah CFP Instructor to get the stamp and signature to apply. it's a good, solid class with a ton of valuable info. We've been providing this class, in addition to the Florida and Arizona (if needed) for a while. And yep, PA's Atty General disallowed the NR versions of the FLA and UT permits earlier this year after redoing the criteria of the agreements. They'll still honor the resident versions, but not the non-resident ones. The good thing is that you can still CCW while in your vehicle driving in PA, and there are provisions for open carry (but why risk an LEO visit when you don't have to). Just don't CCW outside of your car or hotel room, etc without the permit. It's good to be legal....

FYI: Don't get ripped off by crazy costs. We charge 125 for the combo class (UT/FLA). That includes your fingerprints, photos, notary, the approved class for Utah, and the law familiarization part for FLA! Not to mention, we are one heck of a resource afterwards!
