Thanks I wasn't aware of that. I always thought you could buy pistols from FFL in neighboring state.

So if the story is true, Cabelas accepted a layaway from a NY resident to purchase a pistol and then transferred it to said person upon receiving paperwork from the wrong state? Call me jaded but I find this incredibly hard to believe.

I believe that's only for long guns. Handguns must go through an FFL.

Freaking legaleze. Wouldn't it have made more sense to just state it's only pistols from the start instead of saying "firearms" and then saying rifles and shotguns are exempt later on?
