Three months after my interview with the Sheriff I got my pistol permit approval letter..
I was not required to have a sit-down with a judge, and I picked up my unrestricted permit today.

Doesn't that just outright suck??? I mean, they obviously run a check on you during the initial (a deep check) and with any amendment (at least a NICS check) before issuing the updated permit. Then, you go to the store, and get another NICS....and sometimes a delay.

Our Sullivan Act based proprietary, unique state permitting system that arbitrarily varies from county to county (and sometimes even within the counties with multiple judges) is ridiculous. But I digress....

I do envy the northern/central counties that give you a coupon in advance, just in case you see something you like, so that you can pick it up (after the NICS) and THEN go to the Sheriff's office to fill out the amendment and receive the updated permit. Actually makes more sense that way...

After all, you have at least one pistol already. It won't deter a crime of passion, as the rhetoric usual states, by making you wait while a judge decides if you can pick up property that you already paid for.
