    Unexpected Gift...SKS

    Jumbo has a legit firearms question

    Today my brother asked me what the BS rifle restrictions are in NYS. I gave him the quick rundown of semi-auto, detachable mag, bayonet lug, pistol grip. He then said he had an SKS that he never shoots and would I be interested. I said sure, how much? He said it's yours if you want it. I of course said OK! We dug it out of the safe and took it to the range. Shot pretty good! So, unexpectedly I got a rifle today!!

    My question is, it has a pistol grip and telescoping stock. Has no bayonet lug or any other evil feature but I thought it might be best to go back to an original style stock with no pistol grip etc. Would this be the best thing to do?

    I really like the rifle and it would give me something to take to the range other than the Mossy. I do have a pic but can't upload from my phone.

    So, now that I finally have a legit firearms question what say the good peeps at Avid Arms?
    I could be wrong...it's happened before and it'll happen again.

    With the fixed mag the evil features are fine, I have hornady ballistic tip rounds i use for deer and coyotes. I have dark earth tapco stock,collapsible. and today or monday the bolt carrier goes to Gunsick for a Cerakote job.

        An SKS for Christmas? Awesome score. As ADK said with a fixed mag you can have as many evil features as you like. I'd go back to original configure just because I love the old war horses.

            Thanks everyone! I did get a little over excited and couldn't think straight. I just saw pistol grip and telescoping stock and thought...balls! This ain't gonna fly.

            Too bad I'm flying back into LGA or it would be coming home with me in a few days.
            I could be wrong...it's happened before and it'll happen again.

                            Congrats on the new toy. I'd put it back in the original furniture but it's a personal preference. I shot the Tactical rifle match at ORGC this morning with my Russian SKS (it makes the plastic rifles in the rack pee themselves).

                              Yeah, I plan on finding some original furnature to put it in. Like what you posted in that video Thughes.
