  • Keep or discard the boxes rifles come in

Any good reason to keep them??? Anyone else hold on to them, at a crossroads to getting rid of them, advise welcome.
    I'm confused!!!!!

I guess holding onto the original box is good if you bought the gun as an investment for resale someday but don't see any particular benefit if you're planning to hold onto them forever. Unless of course the rifle is somehow a limited edition or collectible, then I suppose it would hold more value with original box. I held on to them for a while but got rid of most of them along the way.

I'm considered 'somewhat' of a packrat, so I say keep'm. My family might scoff at my use of the word somewhat.

Reminds me of a story. Many years ago I had a boss who formerly was in charge of Audit department for Olin Corp. One of their subsidiaries was Winchester. He was taking an inventory and came across a crate of 100+ y/o lever guns still in original packaging. They were sitting in some corner of a warehouse unaccounted for for who knows how many years. Needless to say, the CEO was pleased with his findings...

If you do decide to get rid of them, make sure that the name is not in plain sight at the end of your driveway. I always get a chuckle out of driving through a neighborhood and seeing a box from a new 60" Samsung smart TV sticking out like a sore thumb in the trash pile. It's like a shopping list for bad guys. LOL. I know every new appliance my neighbors have the week after Christmas. I usually cut those type boxes up into smaller squares and put them in the garbage tote.

My GF would make me throw them away (and she'd be right).

            I get a boner.

bareback every couple of days, GTG. Bareback, brokeback, same $hit!

I joined a support group to help me deal with my social anxiety but I just can't seem to work up the nerve to go to a meeting......

If I'd have to venture a guess they'd be converted to BTUs to heat Jerry's family...

If I purge them, this is where they will be filed, still undecided. Something tells me USMC is going to be looking for a fuel tank from a large truck, LOL

Keep them, who would have thought what some guns are worth these days and the price only goes up with the original packaging, Firearms sold as collectibles seldom are, but the ones that are, weren't sold that way.
Lets use the Colt snake guns, worth stupid money now, add the original box and the right buyer will pay up to 30% more for the same gun, A $400 gun when sold new may be worth $1000 to $1200, but add 30% and it's easy to see the importance and value of a freakin piece of paper or cardboard.
I must say I love beavers.

I'm really coming to the conclusion that the "collectible stuff" generation is really tapering off, not specific to firearms but in general. The collectible stuff people used to pay top dollar for has really gone by the wayside and bottomed out money wise. The new generation wants technology, new, fast and easy, lord help us. I'm still a sucker for hess trucks, LOL
