Not really related to extreme accuracy but it has to do with making the AR more reliable and trouble free..

Some folks buying lighter carriers and custom springs might have more problems to find this delicate balance. IMO this is a big
      mistake.
In general everything is easier to balance with standard weights and springs and even a heavier group with a special
buffer that doesn't bounce will help slow down the entire group and therefore make it a more balanced, more reliable and an easier to shoot
      machine.
Here in this video below you can listen to Jim Sullivan who was one of the parents of the original AR15/M16 explaining how they are resolving
this problem with the M4 platform is a long overdue problem with the AR. They also explain other great improvements like the open bolt
      capability for the platform.

Until some of these improvements go main stream one can always try the hydraulic buffer and always buy the heaviest M16 carriers and avoid exotic
and sometimes expensive lightened carriers. Also make sure one is buying barrels for reputable makers with properly ported and other quality
      components that eliminate gas leaks.

      Buffer with hydraulic bumper...

Back in the day, when Binghamton held (was allowed to have) action rifle matches.....I watched a guy FTF and FTE half the day....He was a real nice guy, and was just frustrated and sad. Action match....shooting against the clock and jam after jam. We were helping him all day oiling and greasing and cleaning the bolt carrier...Finally it dawned on us to check the buffer spring....maybe its broke(?).........out comes the hydraulic buffer.

My assumption was the commercial ammo he was shooting wasn't enough to cycle that buffer or he wasn't shooting the 900rpm. I had not heard that there was a heavier machinegun bolt carrier.

The product website guaranteed increased function, less recoil, and quicker follow-up shots, so he claimed.

He had the original buffer and spring in his range bag, and fired flawlessly after that.

Moral: Don't mess with Mother Nature.

LOL.. I agree. I think in general when in doubt add more mass and make sure the rifle cycles fine with the mildest possible load and also it is not overgassed with the hottest possible load
but other than the POS carbine type design I don't see much problem having a well balanced A2 type rifle w/o the need for any exotic components.
The cushioned buffers do work but do not reduce the weight, if anything actually increase it.

Bottom line... people don't take time to understand their rifles. waiting for a match to see if a rifle "upgrade" works it is a bad decision.
...like you said don't mess with mother nature! lol.
