SKS is a fun gun. It used to be more fun in the detachable mag versions. I still love the story of the guy who got one (new to him) and brought it home. He pushed a stripper into it and dropped the bolt, in his living room. He proceeded to Sh*t himself as the stuck firing pin sent a stream of empty brass out the side of the gun. Kudos to him for staying calm and keeping the beast pointed at his stone fireplace while it emptied. Supposedly there were several other people in his home at that time. Not sure if it's a true story, but it works for me. Once upon a time, I had a remotely similar experience with a 1919A4...

The detachable mags would be fun in free state but even before safe we were limited to 10 rounds. Ive gotten good with stripper clips, now going on vacation to Florida to my cousins and loading a 75 round drum sounds like a good time.

The other forum when I started the project I was told to stay away from the brake because it adds unnecessary weight, SKS doesn't need recoil reduction, there is no muzzle rise In an sks Any way. Forget what I want they are right and I am wrong. but it definitely increased my accuracy and reduced rise. It meow kicks like my 10/22

Thats exactly why I won't send the bolt home indoors. Only videos I have ever seen that happens with is commercial bass, the steel imported surplus stuff has harder primers. Plus I soaked the bolt and pin and cleaned it before I assembled and after any extended shooting

That whole bolt dropped/bolt sent home spraying uncontrollable rounds in a fireplace all sounds like mighty dangerous thing..should be banned..oh yea..probably is hehe

I was one of those next door that advised against it. As a matter of fact I believe I offered to give you the one I had purchased for my SKS (but forgot I already gave it away). My opinion is that any benefit provided by a brake is out-weighed by a reduction in maneuverability introduced by the added weight and length. Plus, I like having the bayonet functional 'cause you never know!

We all know what opinions are worth........
Beer is like porn, you can buy it but it's more fun to make your own

I have to bend over too far

                  I get a boner.

bareback every couple of days, GTG. Bareback, brokeback, same $hit!

I joined a support group to help me deal with my social anxiety but I just can't seem to work up the nerve to go to a meeting......

Ive added so much weight to the stock I find it a nice balance, and you were not one I was referring to, it was specifically ones who pmed me with there suggestions and claiming I was ruining the rifle with modifications and would end up in jail with a pistol grip, even though its a fixed mag.
