I would love to own one of these. Do you think Andy would let me buy it now that his best friend in crime is in jail?

It would be the perfect younger brother of the Garand.

Weird that they would go to the trouble of making a custom long action AR and then use a caliber so close to .308. Surprised they didn't do 338 or 300 Win Mag. Also surprised their ad video shows the gun over-gassed ejecting rounds forward.

I think they do make them in both of those rounds. I wouldn't get either just because I don't want to load or stock another caliber. The over gassing can be taken care of by their adjustable gas block. I read the owners manual just for something to do.
The bad news comes in the calibers you mentioned. Although it is 150% more in price.

                I wouldn't ask Andy's permission...it's an Upper

that said, I do not know that going from .308 > .30-.06 would be worth having another caliber of ammo around
L1A1 already eats .308, so going there is another complication, prolly for not a lot of benefit
I have standardized calibers to commonly available military stuff > .223, .308, 7.62x39
no more 22-250, ..220 Swift , 243, etc ... those rifles just sit, ....on vacation for the near? future
we are not in the 1970's where ammo was available and cheap for any caliber
good god I miss Paragon Ammo Sales with Israeli .308 @ 16 cents round in year 2000

The large actions do not make them mainstream because they are not really needed by anyone in real life. The 308w is already a very heavy system
and it shoots the current service round that is the 308w. There is a negligible difference between the 308w and the 30.06 in practical terms.
Aside from the service purpose where the 308w displaced the 30.06 there is little reason for the large action AR auto-loader with all the extra meat and extra weight
that is one of the main requirements for a practical rifle.
And for hunting, folks enthusiast of the large calibers you have auto-loading rifles like the Browning BAR long track and Rem.750, 7500, Benelli, etc.. that
will do the same with lighter chasis and any many LA and popular magnums.
So with the lighter SA 308w based platforms coming to market and the short magnum alternatives you are not going to see the long action ARs proliferate.
Even the western countries have been moving away from the longer actions into the short actions and lighter platforms with more efficient cartridges.
The 30.06 still a great caliber for many things from Garand matches to endless bolt action models very popular all around the world.

I don;'t know many fans of carrying a 14lb rifle all day unless it is a high precision, heavy barreled, extreme long range rig like those used by elite snipers.

Some times you only have a want in mind, no purpose necessary. If purpose was required for everything in life, we would own a lot less and live much simpler lives. A 30-06 AR or .338 Lapau AR for me would serve no purpose except to put lead on steel and a big smile on my face every time a round went down range.

I wasn't referring to the rounds but these rounds in this particular platform and why they are not practical. But hey, you are right, consuming is not something restricted to fancy electronics and fashion, after all we all are experts on our favorite colors.
