I've read a lot of opinions saying a mid-length gas system is superior to a carbine length gas system. Anyone have any views on mid length with a 16" barrel vs. rifle length with an 18" barrel? A friend said that the rifle length on an 18" barrel might cycle a bit too softly. I am assuming different gas port sizes are used with each length. No idea if there are solid general rules about what is superior or if it varies depending on who is producing it. Figured I'd hit up the collective knowledge of the AA crew to help make a decision.

I have a rifle length system on mine with an 18" barrel. Granted, I don't even have a full mag through it, but it worked fine when I tested it.Old enough to know better, still too young to care -
