Settle an argument, is this a Pistol grip?

I say absolutely not, its part of the stock and your gripping behind the action, not below. I suggested it to a buddy looking to update is mini-14, and someone butted in and said it was a pistol grip and not ok.

I got a email back from Archangel and this is there reply back to me on if you could buy a stock from them and have it shipped to NY. The stock I asked them about was the one they sell for a Ruger 10/22 which was the AAP1022..

We can ship this item into NY, however the burden of if it's legal falls upon the consumer as we have repeatedly asked for a letter of clarifications from states like NY, CT & CA and to date have never received a reply. I wish I could answer your question directly but you will need to contact your authorities in your state. I also would suggest checking with the ATF offices in NY as they will respond quickly and may be just the folks you need to resolve the issue.

Always covering their arses legally talking. This stock has been sold and installed and sold in installed configurations. Nobody can demonstrate this is not a target stock as it follows the
same directives of countless targets stocks for bolt action and autloders.

I ordered this stock for my Mini 14 liked it so much ordered another for a 10/22 then asked about it at my LGS? They felt NY would call it a Pistol grip ( These guys are on top of things) So I sent them both back. As a instructor with the County Pistol Safety Class it was not worth the chance til I know for sure! I will reorder for sure if things ever change or we get a yes answer on this stock!!

Think about what a "pistol" grip is. Is it defined? Do you mean the thing that looks like a 1911 grip? But wait, how about the pistol grip on a revolver? Every stock made post the "Great War" has a pistol grip, you know, that curved section you hold on to that looks like a revolver grip? WTF!!!
