  • Alien Gear Holsters

Does anyone have any experience with Alien Gear holsters? I'm intrigued by the use of neoprene vs the traditional leather. For the price I can't help but wonder if they're worth a try.

Absolutely love mine! No break in required, lifetime replacement shells (if you buy a different gun), lifetime warranty, I can't believe they sell them this cheap. You will not be disappointed.
Beer is like porn, you can buy it but it's more fun to make your own

I have to bend over too far

    I get a boner.

bareback every couple of days, GTG. Bareback, brokeback, same $hit!

I joined a support group to help me deal with my social anxiety but I just can't seem to work up the nerve to go to a meeting......

I've heard a lot of good about them too! There's a good deal on buying 2, I think I'm going to order one for my S&W 6906 and one for the S&W Shield I hope to pick up today after the mail comes!

DW, if you want to take a look at one I'll try and remember to bring it with me to the CMP match at GCL this Saturday (if there is a match, haven't heard anything from the match director yet....)

Thanks thughes. I haven't heard whether the Fudds have stopped our match or not, but I'd love to check out your holster. There aren't many companies making holsters for Steyr pistols, so I'm hoping Alien Gear stuff is decent.

Got an Alien Gear for for Christmas. I wanted the option to carry my Steyr so I asked for the holster, but I was also a bit skeptical of whether or not it would be practical for me to carry a full sized pistol. After some playing with the holster angle and different pairs of pants, I was shocked at how well a full size pistol can be concealed. The one pair of jeans I have are perfectly sized to use with the holster so that the pants are actually doing a lot to hold the holster in tight. With the holster canted as far as it will go the handle tucks in tight against my side. I have a belt that will work for now, but I think I'm going to look for a reinforced belt because I fear the one I have will stretch out. First full day using the holster will be Friday and I'll let everyone know how it goes. I am probably going to be tugging on my shirt a lot out of paranoia at first.

              Belt: http://www.koreessentials.com/x1-gun-buckle-belt-set/

You will NOT be disappointed. Superfast shipping and they are on sale right now.

Other option is Hank's Amish belts. I have one of those too but the adjustability of the Trakline blows everything else away.

I saw the thread about CCW belts where you mentioned these. I'm really interested in the infinite adjustability, but the belts look a bit more formal than I am going for. At this point my Monday-Thursday work pants aren't loose enough in the waist to allow an IWB holster. Casual Fridays are the days I'll be wearing jeans and carrying my Steyr, so I'm looking for a more casual belt.

The Hank's belts look really good for the price. I stopped into United Uniform over lunch and noticed a leather belt with a broken buckle that seemed appropriate in their bargain bin. They have the largest selection of belts I've ever seen in a retail store, but the 5.11 ones that I liked the most were only available in small and XXL. So I grabbed the belt out of the bargain bin and asked how much it was. $5 later I'm out the door and hoping to find a cool belt buckle at a reasonable price.

So I've got a little time on the holster now (CT3). When I first got it I tried it on with the pistol to see how everything looked. After some experimentation I noticed that additional cant kept the pistol handle closer to my body. I figured that was ideal for hiding the gun so I maxed out the cant and wore it to work one day. Standing and walking around everything was perfectly comfortable. However, the car ride and sitting at my desk were both pretty uncomfortable. I wasn't sure if that was just the nature of an IWB holster with a mid-sized pistol or if I was doing it wrong.

A bit of google searching led me to the conclusion that the pistol is more comfortable when it's higher on your back. I reduced the cant by one notch (which also raises the pistol) and tried again. A bit more comfortable for car rides although there was quite a bit of shifting in my seat to try to find a way my back would tolerate it. I wore it a few times that way before trying a different position this morning. I moved both belt clips to their lowest positions for no additional cant and as much height as the holster can offer. I still wouldn't want to take a long car ride wearing it, but it was the most comfortable position yet for sitting down. Even with the reduced cant it doesn't seem to print at all under my typical Friday/weekend plaid button down shirt.

If higher on the back is more comfortable, part of my issue might be the style of jeans I usually wear. I'll be keeping an eye out for some "normal rise" jeans on the sale racks to see if they make any difference in comfort.
