16,000 rounds in 2 Months...

Well as you may have guessed from the thread title, I sorta enjoy my 1911-22..BUT, in my love affair I have worn down my "hooked" nose of my extractor. FTEs on each and every trigger pull started last night. I cleaned it well (as I do 3xs a week after Range outing..no fix. Being only few months old, it's still well within the 1 year warranty, problem is I don't want to be without it for weeks upon weeks..So today I took apart the Extractor cleaned it all extremely well, filed yhe "hooked nose" of the extractor to give it a little more sharpness to grab the rim. I wire brushed the hell out of the chamber and stretched the Extractor spring outwards a tad, making it have more tension to grab the rim of the round and/or spent shell. Went back to the range and shot 300 with only 2 failures, mighty mighty proud of myself I then went to the Manufacturers site and ordered new Extractor and spring for 13$, just for emergency and in the future of the 30,000 rounds number lol. I'm not a fan of sending my things away unless it's a worst case ,last choice option..and today is exactly why..

Nice job. Pretty sure I don't have 16k on all of my guns combined. Maybe 5k, tops lol. You should have ordered 2 sets by the sound of it.

Tis true. Luckily (and sadly) my LGS has the 40gr I prefer at 59.99/500 he gives it to me at 49.99/500, cause I asked him to lol, being I'm in there every few days.

You should of seen me, yesterday I was like a kid with a new present..after tweaking the extractor and messing around with it, I threw my little 22lr ammo vitamin container (you know the one) and my badge and earplugs into that plano field box you gave me, 5 minutes later I was signed in and blasting away, 20 minutes later I was done and on my way to Mcds with the kids LOL. By far the quickest "Range" outing ever!

This would never have been obtainable if I didn't join the club in April, only 4 minutes from my door and home from work by 3pm each day..always just me alone or me and Gunsick or me and 1 or 2 other shooters with almost 20 tables to shoot from, it's just to damn easy not to take advantage of. And back in March i was trying to calculate if it would be worth 450$ club fee.. I recouped that in first month and a half lol.

Yup, I was in that boat (but using it) still though..20$, 20$ 20$ plus gas, adds up quick. That is what pushed me to become a member, after first year it's only 125$.

Luckily for us Putnamers..there never was a shortage. LGS has 8 different brands on three walls filled..always and i do mean always..
