WTF 1911 way low

Can anyone explain to me how I am this low from the sight picture with both factory rounds 230gr WWB and reloaded 200gr SWCs. If you notice I basically am dead on with windage but 4-5 inches low? I will admit I am a not a pro or super experienced by any means. I basically waked my way up to the bull. In the bottom pic is where I started, sights in the middle of the bull. The back X is where I had to aim and I was punching the red out between 7-10 yards. The top pic was at the high point of aim, just below the Black line, the one ow left was meant to be there. It makes no sense to me, if I was flinching, too much trigger or anticipating recoil my windage would be off. I am guessing I need to change my rear sight to an adjustable one? Gun is a Para 1911 Expert Govt model.

Are the sights holdover vs 6 o clock? I would try resting if possible to take your mechanics out of the equation.

I will give it a shot. I would think that aiming at the high X every time and hitting the bull over and over would not be mechanics but I could be wrong. I have no issues with my other 3 handguns.

A shorter front sight or a taller rear sight will correct the problem if you find out it is not you. I have a similar problem, I will eventually replace the rear sight with an adjustable one.

Try having someone else shoot it as well to see if they have the same issue. The one thing I can think of for shooting off vertically is poor breathing control.

Do some dry firing as well. With my small/thin Kahr CM40 I tend to nose down when pulling the DAO trigger. But I think a 1911 with a single action trigger might not have this issue. I would also make sure you are not moving the gun forward right before you shoot. That can also cause a nose down. Another possibly is how you align your eyes with the sight.

If you are doing any of the above, your group will move closer to point of aim as you move closer to your target. Shoot at 3-5-7-10 yards, and check POA.

At 5-7-10 yards I was aiming at the top X in the pic and hitting center?? I ordered a Kensight LPA TRT 1911 rear adjustable for it. I do not carry the 1911 anyway. I am just stumped as to why its only this gun and not my other 3 pistols its happening with? I did try dry firing it a bunch. My grip is the same I do not believe my mechanics change at all but you never know. It is the longest barrel of all my handguns and you are probably correct on how my eyes are picking up the sights. I do not know when I will get to the range again but I should be able to just dial it in with the new rear sight. I would question more of my mechanics if I were off from right to left, flinching, too heavy on the trigger or anticipating recoil. I appreciate the tips.

I you shoot fine with others, aren't limp wristing it/anticipating the recoil, change the sights. Don't get frustrated, look at it as a challenge to make it work for you. Doubt it would be barrel/bushing lock up but stranger things have happened. Find someone with a ransom rest to eliminate all variables. Somebody on here must know a 1911 guru.

Put on a LPA TPU rear adjustable and all is good now. If there are any issues its with the shooter
