    Ruger LCR or S&W J-Frame

    vs

Kahr CM40 or similar small 40.

I carry more often than I go to the range. I shoot and reload a lot of 38, 357 magnum and 40. So don't bother trying to use the words snappiness to dissuade me. I really like the thought of the CM40 (15 ounces, less than 1" thick). My only carry gun at the moment is a Ruger SR40C (30 ounces loaded, 1.25" thick). On the flip side, an LCR or J-Frame is roughly the same dimensions as the SR40C, but half the weight. I would like to attempt pocket carry. Currently I can keep the SR40C in a winter coat pocket easily (Remora holster), but I prefer to keep the firearm on my body.

Lastly, the 40 S&W doesn't lose much out of shorter barrel (< 4"). Where as a 38 special +p or 357 magnum out of a 1.875" barrel loses a lot, and requires special ammo.

Can anyone weigh in on my choices. I have zero experience with Kahr, and good experiences with Ruger and S&W.

Of all the small single stack size guns I got the shield feels and shoots the best. Better to control than the SIG and others.
Also I shot a khar from someone else and I didn't like it as much. I guess the best idea is is to try them.
The shield gives good leverage and it feels like shooting a full frame but w/o the bulk. It is on the large size but still fits nicely inside front jean pockets.
It is a shame when people demanding tolerance, have no tolerance

I guess I never considered the shield for a small single stack. I can fit my ruger in the pocket of my jeans for quick home carry, but it's thickness and weight are a bit much. I will have to do some weight checks on the shield.

I'm gonna jump in on this conversation too. I have been carrying my 3" 1911 for 3 years now. Suspenders are on the daily wardrobe with a leatherman wave and accessories, extra 7rd mag. I LOVE this gun, but after shooting a friends Ruger LCR, I really like it. Dont own a wheel gun, but dig them a lot.

I thought the size of your gun was inversely proportional to penis size.

I like small guns, I grab my fat cock often enough to not need a big pustol too ;-)
Kahr makes great guns, Jframes are nice too but I have a model 36 &after 25 or so rounds, its annoying. I also gave a Taurus pt709 which is the same size as a Shield and can shoot yhat all day, and I have a S&W M&P compact 40, XDs 45 and Glock 26, all of which are all say shooters. My Diamondback 9mm, not so much, would just suck to shoot in 40

M&P BG380 for a small carry gun here.....

Pro: It's so small that I carry it ALL the time (coat pocket in the winter, shorts pocket in the summer) even when I am carrying something else (G30, XDS, SigPro, etc).
Con: I have big hands so it's hard to shoot accurately (but I guess at gut gun distances it really doesn't matter)

Let us know how you like the Kahr.
Beer is like porn, you can buy it but it's more fun to make your own

I have to bend over too far

                          I get a boner.

bareback every couple of days, GTG. Bareback, brokeback, same $hit!

I joined a support group to help me deal with my social anxiety but I just can't seem to work up the nerve to go to a meeting......

I carry an airweight J. I like it, I just worry about corrosion and for that reason wish I had a similarly sized stainless revolver. For some reason blued steel means collectible and must not show signs of holster wear in my mind. Having an EDC pistol that you're stressing about keeping pristine is a bit of a contradiction.

I say I'd like a stainless EDC not knowing how much added weight would bother me.
