  • How many and how do you carry your spare magazines?

Curious how those of you that carry a pistol carry your spare magazines and how many you carry if any at all?

What do you do differently if anything for say carrying a pistol in your pocket vs OWB or IWB?

I carry my Kel-Tec PF-9 in a Desantis Nemesis Pocket Holster in my strong side pants pocket. In my weak hand pocket, I have a Desantis Pocket Holster for a spare magazine. If I'm in my cargo pants, I'm carrying a 2nd spare mag in one of the mag utility pockets.

When I'm carrying my XDm .45, it's in a Raven Concealment Kydex IWB Holster with their optional "C-Clips". On my weak side is a Raven Concealment Kydex Dual Magazine Holder. If wearing my cargo pants, I'm carrying two additional spare mags in both pant legs magazine pockets for a total of five magazines.

When going into a particularly bad section of town or into a really rural area, and I want maximum protection. I'm carrying the XDm with five mags, and the PF-9 with three mags. This is in addition to my EDC stuff like Knife, Flashlight, Cellphone, etc.

I view the pistol as a deterrent
I'm happy with the 5 shots of .32
if you need more in a civilian encounter, you chose your location poorly

I carry anywhere between 2 and 6 spare mags depending on what area I am going to be in.

Glock 17, one mag in weapon. Two mags in front left pocket.

But I'm looking for another way to carry a spare mag (maybe two). Right now I look like I'm smuggling reptiles.

I'm kind of with you on this Norm, I can't envision a scenario where I would be sticking around for a prolonged fire fight. Unless you have to be in a bad area for a reason (job, rental properties, etc.), why go there in the first place? The first thing I have been taught in every single training class has been that you don't go anywhere or do anything while carrying that you wouldn't do unarmed. I prefer the tactic of getting a few shots off and then hightailing it out of the situation while the bad guy(s) still has his head down.

3 per handgun. In my range bag. If im going anywhere besides range, I don't carry any, just the 8 in my carry piece (should do the job if needed, 20 years i never needed it, ain't like i need spare mags to goto the A & P, that chit just makes me chuckle)No need to have a batman belt all bothering me while i shoot.

G19, 2 mags with the spare in a cordura belt holster, however i want to buy a nice kydex double mag holder that sits high on the belt so they will be more concealed. And i dont put myself in questionable environments, but you never know so my situational awareness is always on.

I carry, most of the times, my Springfield XDS45; I have the five round mag with one chambered in a Versacarry holster. I carry a second, seven round mag in my rear left pocket. If I travel into Buffalo, I have an additional five rnd mag as well. I have drawn my firearm in a couple of situations, probably would never need more than the inserted mag, but better be safe than sorry.

Each time I was deployed, we always go out with more ammo than normally used; that never means that the next time you go out with a light load!

Have 7+1 in an M&P Shield at all times. I keep 2 spare 8 rounders in my truck and 2 in the wifes van so that they're available if I want to take extras wherever we are going. I'll usually stick them in the back left pocket if we are heading into an area that may be somewhat questionable.

SR9c with a spare mag in a SnagMag holder - looks like a pocket knife clip and keeps mag oriented floor plate up in same direction every time. Better than moving around picking up change in the bottom of my pocket (IMO).
Ok I can go a couple ways
