Well for me I'm definitely not in for either or pondering the idea. But i only posted my thoughts out loud not to be a douche or anything but just incase you guys need to have a headcount or something for a bulk savings or whatever..for those of u that do move ahead, it'll be cool and enjoy

We could start 'small' with the first offering and do something cheaper like a pocket pistol. Maybe Custom Engraved Sig P238 Scorpion? Those look badass!

I have been lusting for a Dan Wesson Guardian. Would even be made in NY.
I don't think there would be a question on quality but price would be another story.

I will check and see what more I can find out. Looks like Caspian will be best bet for custom build. Frame looks like about $300 assuming no extra expensive options. The $300 would include custom serial and knurling on grip. I am guessing slide will probably end up around $350 ish again assuming not going with all the fancy options but after looking at them I am not entirely sure what difference some of them make such as internal vs external extractor, what the different radius's are, and stuff like that.

All caspian slides take a 38 super/9mm firing pin no matter the breechface of the slide. Also caspian has their firing pin hols up .020 inches from the blueprints of the original 1911 it allows for higher barrel lock ups with a centered firing pin.

In my ongoing quest to complicate this discussion I had a chat on the phone this morning with Jim from Oriskany Arms about a custom 1911. I saw some info coming out of SHOT show about them releasing the 1911 Survivor (a 1911 with rail and survival items stored in the field removable grips). They are NY based and offer 4 different 1911s at this point. They have been in business since 1947 and have been selling their own 1911s for about 2 years now. According to Jim they have 80+ CNC machines and have supplied parts to Remington, Winchester and Ruger for many years. Pistols are all US made, individually fitted and accuracy tested for groups of 2.5" or better at 20 yards. Different finishes, cereakote and engraving available including custom serial numbers.

Jeff is going to send me some info to share with you re: pricing and options available. As soon as I get it I will share with those that are interested. As an example, the MSRP of the "1911 Traditional FP" in black finish is $799. For a quantity of 10 units he is willing to give us a GOOD discount and throw in the customized serial numbers (normally a $50 option). As i don't want to impact any other deals he may do I prefer not to post the price we discussed - PM me and I will send to you privately.

While I still like the idea of building a custom 1911 this option can get a bunch of us in the game right away with a great shooting iron.

Just let me know final on how much, who to pay and when. Y'all plan it; in the end it'll be what I'm buying... An official forum 1911 since I sold all of mine off its an excuse to get back in the game.
