Laugo Arms Alien

I'm loving the interesting new pistol designs that have been coming out lately. No idea how many of them will gain traction, but innovation is great for shooters if you ask me. We've had the Hudson H9, Archon Type B, and now this new Alien pistol all showing up within the past couple years. It would appear as though having a really low bore axis was a big priority in all of these new designs.

Engineering designs of the Alien serve to mitigate muzzle flip and minimize felt-recoil. Laugo touts the Alien as having the lowest bore axis of any pistol in the world. Cycling of the gun is independent of the fixed barrel and the separate top rail. This means that during each shot, neither the barrel nor the sights move. This should lend to high accuracy and the possibility for faster follow up shots.

The Alien operates using a delayed blowback system. Gas pressure is used to slow the movement of the slide thanks to a gas piston. Laugo claims that the more powerful the round, the slower the slide will move, and the recoil is reduced no matter how hot the ammo is.

The good news: the pistol is getting amazing reviews. The trigger is supposedly on par with a 1911 and muzzle flip is barely existent. Everything I'm reading about it makes me want it.

The bad news: It costs $5000.
