    LCP - I or II

    I've been thinking about a cheap pocket .380 and have really been focused on the ad's for Ruger LCP's.
    I honestly just want to buy a LCP II and be done with it, since it is a little bit better than the vI. (slightly improved trigger and sights.) But man the price difference can be huge! I was in F&S today looking at something else, and looked in the case to see that the vII were $319. not bad. But the vI's were on sale for $219. percentage wise that is a huge difference for such a subtle improvement. i understand that the old gen's will always be cheaper to make room for the new (except maybe glocks gen 3's : ) however, 30% difference? wtf.

    Not familiar with LCP but I have a LC9 and really don't like it (mostly trigger). Not sure if they are similar designs or not. Yeah that seems like a big difference in price. $219 is cheap. Have you looked at the baby glock?

      $280 at Buds with free shipping, if you've got a local FFL. Add the $25 FFL transfer and you're pretty close to the F&S price but you save the tax (and lose the instant gratification).

        No experience with the LCP but I do have experience with the LCR in .38
        Didn't like it. Sold it after one month.

        FYI, the v2 is 45.6% more expensive than the v1.

        The v1 is 31.3% less expensive than the v2.

        Funny how accountants can make the numbers look good/bad/worse. It's all in the perspective.

          yeah, $219 is hard to walk past i have looked at the baby glock, my coworker just got one so am going to try and get some range time with his him in the next couple weeks to try it out. i didn't hate the LCP for what it was when i tried it.

            the BG380 has been on my radar as well.

            the instant gratification isn't there usually anyway as in monroe i don't get any coupons so have to go to the clerks :/

              yeah i only looked at the LCR for a hot second because i have heard so much negative from people like you whom i trust that didn't like it.

              i love the accounting, i almost just said "Peshitta, I can buy 3 v1 for the price of 2 v2's!"

                The V1 LCp is a great pistol and probably serves as my EDC 50% to 60% of the time. If you haven't shot one it will seem very snappy at first (S&W Bodyguard feels similar). A little practice and a hogue grip and you'll be surprised how accurate it can be at 10 yards. I picked mine up used a couple years ago for $200 so a new one at that price is a great deal. A breeze to clean and maintain and i find it not finicky at all on ammo. Full disclosure: mine was an early V1 and was part of a recall as some were not drop safe. I sent it to Ruger and they retrofitted. When it came back last round would always jam. Back to Ruger and it was returned perfect. Has not jammed since. Both times shipping was at Ruger's expense and took exactly 1 week round trip. I find Ruger's customer service excellent.

                V1 is smoother with rounded edges where V2 is a bit more angular. Trigger on V2 is better - more like a traditional striker fire. V1 has a very long way to travel before it breaks but for a mouse/pocket gun with no safety it's easy to get used to.Disappears in a pocket with a Remora or similar holster.
