Lost a grip screw for my Sig 938. I believe it uses same size as 1911 but shorter. Went to the local hardware store and picked up some various sizes but I think the shortest (5mm) is still too long. Any recommendations for cutting these down without destroying threads? I was thinking about putting them in a nut with the right size threads and cutting to length with a dremel . Do you think backing out of the nut will keep threads intact? I know I have some wire strippers that have threaded holes that you put a screw through and it cuts off, but believe they are only threaded in standard threads and pretty sure I need metric.

I tried the wire strippers out on a screw once. Not sure if my wire strippers are just bad, but they don't seem well suited to cutting hard metals.NRA Life Member

Must have been a hell of a pistol whipping....."I ask, Sir, what is dinner? It is the whole chicken. To pluck the chicken is the best and most effectual way to prepare them."

I can still find a use for my thumb, even though it no longer has a hole to finger.
I could have been enjoying his nuts.

I have also used RTV on small parts that do not require much torque, reason being, the vibrations are what cause them to back out, so only a small amount of additional tension will keep them from backing out, also make for easy removal. Just a dab on the threads, clear, black, red, what ever floats your boat.I must say I love beavers.
