  • G19 Feed issues with HP

Hello Members...Looking for some help. I did do a search on this issue here and nothing came up...so here is my issue. I have a GEN 3 G!9, The issue is that it will not feed HP ammo of pretty much any brand. it has the updated followers from Glock that are supposed to address and correct this very problem. I have tried SPEER, COR-BON, FEDERAL, WWB, and REMINGTON. All fail to feed. appears that mag follower does not properly "evenly" lift cartridge. the front of the round hits the bottom of the feed ramp. I have cleaned all burrs and anything that would cause a hang up inside the mags, and replaced all mag springs with wolf extra strength springs. Round nose feeds without issue. I like the gun but it is useless to me like it is. I think it is definitely the mags. Any aftermarket suggestions? Thanks for your help.

Replace magazines and gun with Sig Sauer? (sorry, had to do it)

I have that issue using Hornaday Critical Defense in my XDS but it's due to the radical angle on the bullet, all other HP's feed just fine. As far as I know Glocks "just work", I've never heard of this issue. I've got a G26 (Gen4) and a G30 (Gen3) and they'll eat anything I feed them. Gtnorry showed me how the very tip of the mag follower can get busted off with repeated dropping on a hard surface, other than that I'm not sure what to offer. Good luck...........
Beer is like porn, you can buy it but it's more fun to make your own

I have to bend over too far

    I get a boner.

bareback every couple of days, GTG. Bareback, brokeback, same $hit!

I joined a support group to help me deal with my social anxiety but I just can't seem to work up the nerve to go to a meeting......

I have carried a Glock 17 for 22 years and have shot thousands and thousands of rounds through ii.I have also been around other shooters (hundreds in total) and have never seen this problem. It is hard to believe that all of your mags are bad.It sounds like you might have a defect within the gun itself..I would send this gun and magazines back to Glock for repairs.

What area are you in? Has anyone else shot it with hollow points? Try other peoples mags? Try your mags in someone else's glock?

If you're in the Monroe County area I'd be willing to loan you some G19 mags for diagnostic purposes. I know for a fact that Federal HST and Hornady Critical Defense rounds run through mine with no feed issues at all.

Same here, could also try swapping out barrel too. Lots of options to try and narrow it down.

Thanks for the advice and offers to help out. I am in Erie County..Elma to be exact if anyone is interested in checking it out for themselves. I would definitely appreciate swapping out a barrel before i go ahead and buy one.

I have several glocks and I have yet to find out a round that doesn't cycle. Some surplus I shot was authentic chit and still they eat everything.
It seems you might have a defective mag. Look for burs inside the mag. Maybe a bit of polymer from the mold.
Dissassemble the mag, run the follower up and down to see if it catches and make sure the spring is ok and well positioned. All it takes 5 minutes.
In any case glock will fix any issues for life. The glocks are super reliable so your issue should be easy to fix.

the first thing I did was de-burr the mags...replaced the springs and updated the followers to the latest ones from glock. I also put a dry lube powder inside the mags. As the slide strips the round from the mag...the front of the bullet dips down about 1/16" this causes it to hit the feed ramp. It happens with a full mag or with pretty much any number of rounds loaded.

Is the mag catch / sear at the right height and fully engaged? This needs to be in the right spot. Same thing with the magazine cut/slot but this would be difficult as these parts are molded.
A small machine mistake can make a difference. It should be easy to debug and fix. If you take it to the shop glock will take care of it no questions asked.

How many different mags are having this problem?

Happens with all 3 mag I have. There is no wear on the mags or the catch...mags are flush at the bottom and fit securely. I have the 9mm3 followers...think im gonna get some 9mm6 followers and do the necessary mod to make them fit...ill keep my fingers crossed.

This sounds very odd. Does it happen when somebody else shoots your gun? Maybe something with your grip or hand causing friction on slide? Possible bad batch of mags? I own a few Glocks and they've always run whatever I put through them.

It will happen even when inserting a new full mag....I also have a G36 that I have zero issues wirh. And just to be clear. ..I do not use the slide stop as a release, I pull it to full open and release it. Doesn't matter what number round it is. Happens pretty regularly. I also have other semi auto stuff that runs without a problem.
