  • The scope ring blues :-(

Finished my 10/22 build today and I start mounting the scope on some Weaver Quad Lock rings I got for the build. Cheap rings and I like the look of them. Lay the scope in the rings and eveything looks great. The objective bell is almost touching the barrel just like I want. Then I check the eye relief and as I push the scope forward the magnification ring hits the back of the scope rail. #@$?% me!!!!! Well after my fit I decide I don't like the rings anyway. They are quick detach and have large knobs. I'm right handed and always mount rings with the knobs on the right hand side of the firearm so when being carried the knobs don't snag on your clothes. I can't just flip them around because of my OCD lol! So I just say PePeshittata and ordered some Warne Maxima fixed rings in the right height and no knobs. Should be here on Wednesday so hopefully I can get to the range on Thursday.

How do you guys like to mount your rings? Knobs on the right or knobs on the left?

That's sucks..... I'm looking forward to finished build pics and range report! I have only mounted rings once and to be honest don't remember what side the knobs are on.

Well that sucks. See if you can find a ring that is going to be in line with your eyes as you comfortably weld you cheek to the stock w/o a raiser if all possible.
Unless the rings our mounts dictate the direction it can be either way. Many times I like left side so they are not in the way of ejection or action movement.
But also on the left might show they do not get in the way of anything like other equipment or even clothing/ergonomics. But definitely will be looking for
mounts that stay out of the way of anything.
It is a shame when people demanding tolerance, have no tolerance

I usually mount my rings with the nuts on left. I havent had any issue with snagging, but thats something im going to look into.
