  • Removing Delta Ring.

About to cut off the delta ring on 9mm AR to install new Troy Alpha rail.
    Have Dremal.
Any advice from anyone or just start hacking?

Wrap the rest of the upper in rags or your going to have to clean all the dust from cutting it off. Big time saver. The delta ring is soft so be prepared for the dremel to go through it pretty quickly. You don't want to cut into anything else.

I've never done one, but yeah, I think you just hack away at it, being careful to not scratch anything up with the dremel.
      Athiest. Because... science

Don't you have to remove the barrel nut anyway? What about the weld spring and snap ring? I'm not familiar with installing different fore-ends

Troy rails use the factory barrel nut. Once you cut the delta ring the rest of the parts come right off.

The Troy Alpha clamps on existing barrel nut so does not have to be removed. Why I went with it. Just have to remove delta ring and spring, remove pins from FSB, (blow back so no gas tube or barrel hole,) and install rail.

Going to use. Spike's Tactical fake suppressor (1/2x36 as most 9mm are threaded,) that will shroud over barrel and go partially into rail. Rail is 11" long with flip up sights. FSB is at carbine location now so will be covered by rail and suppressor.

Conversion to 9mm will be done with Spike's mag block,(uses Colt type mags.) and CMMG upper, which comes with ramped bolt so I can keep the Geiselle trigger set it has now.

Ramped bolt is the way to go. Don't know why they even make the other kind. What are you doing with your buffer set up?

Bought a Spikes Tactical 9mm heavy buffer and spacer, (I don't think is offered any longer,) Had parts in inventory for awhile, but never used. Using Ace entry length fixed stock. Have former 32 round Uzi mags, (now blocked and pinned to 10 rds and slotted for Colt mag catch.) plus shorter ten rd mags.

That's a good buffer set up. I have a YHM 9mm buffer, it's heavy. Some guys run a standard buffer but the over-travel hammers the crap out of your BHO if you have that feature and the right mags. The Uzi mags are great but no BHO. I have some 10rd Metalform ones that work great also.
