Too late. They have sold hundreds of firearms with them so now they have to live with it.
This is good because it just shows once more the arbitrary nature of BS UNSAFE that changes with the weather patterns.
It is a shame when people demanding tolerance, have no tolerance

Dark Storm put it out this afternoon. (Below from their Facebook,) Supposedly a group of troopers spent a few hours visiting their shop this afternoon. Thordsen picked up on it and stopped sales of the FRS to NY.

          "NYSP SAFE Act Update 3-11-2016
Effective March 11, 2016 we have been advised by the New York State Police Troop L Gun Investigation Unit that their official determinations have now been made on a number of items and configurations of semi-automatic rifles under the SAFE Act. We have requested they provide a formal notification in writing which we expect to see in the next 30 days. We are working with our attorneys as well as attorneys representing some of the component manufacturers to explore legal challenge options. Below is a summary of what we have been advised:
          • Any “featureless” configuration on an AR or AK style receiver is NOT compliant. This includes: the Spur, the Thordsen FRS, the Monsterman, the Boar and all other similar items where the hand is below the action of the rifle.
          • “Featureless” rifles including the Mini 14, Saiga Sporter, Ruger 10/22, Ares SCR, etc. where the hand is behind the action of the rifle ARE compliant.
          • The AR Mag-Lock mechanism which allows removal of the magazine when the action is open is NOT compliant.
          • The DS-15 FX series fixed magazine receiver and rifles which are manufactured as a “fixed magazine” ARE compliant.
This information is subject to change and clarification. No other clarifications have been issued at this time leaving some products still in the grey area. As always, we are not attorneys and do not offer legal advice, we are only trying to pass along information as it becomes available to us."

Sounds like they are saying that hand placement is the "grip" not a physical object being a grip. Also that no standard AR receiver is legal to be a featureless rifle.

Taking bets that next will be no fixed mags unless receiver specifically manufactured as one. This will ban 98% of all builds.

                  Chew on this...

I just heard that someone in the gun industry called the head of the CD Gun Unit of the NYSP and he had no idea about any policy change on spurs or Thorsden stocks.

He thinks Dark Storm Industries is doing this for profit in order to get his proprietary FIXED magazine AR saleable in NY, and screwing our gun rights in the process.

If this is true, DSI needs to be boycotted, and put out of business.

                  Regardless, FUAC!

The finish is already starting to wear off some of the edges of my cheap $29 replacement stock. I may try some black walnut stain on it, and try to get it to look more like the stock that originally came on the VEPR.

The more I think about this, the more it burns my balls. A "pistol grip" is a physical item (same as a muzzle brake, flash hider, bayonet lug, etc.), not an action.

So anyone with those stocks or grips are no longer legal, might as well put that pistol grip and 6 posnition stocks back on your AR and throw those ugly things away. "Anything manufactured with a fixed magazine" is still good to go, ill be taking my compliant sks everywhere with me.

So I noticed they were shipping this stock again, so was this all a lie by Dark Storm Industries to sell more fixed mag stuff or did NYSP realize they over stepped and backed off.
