This is the rifle I want.
VEPR in 54r.

Why, might you ask? Because I have Mosins. They shoot 7.62x54r. I have lots of 54r. I want to step it up a notch.
Also, Andy-boy says I can't have one. Well, FUAC! Try and stop me, ya little pissant! So I will find a way to bring an illegal gun into New York LEGALLY, just to show him how stupid his precious little SAFE Act is! You tell me this rifle is illegal just because it has a piece of wood on the end of it that has a hole in it???!!! What if I manage to customize one so that it no longer meets NY's definition of an "assault weapon" and yet it is still functions exactly the same as the "illegal" version? How stupid will that make his PRECIOUS little SAFE Act look when his asinine law did NOTHING to stop me from buying this rifle legally?

(deep breath....... )
Now there aren't very many rifles that shoot 54r. One of them is the SVT-40. This is a historical firearm, and is illegal under the Safe Act (unless registered). It is semi-auto, has a detachable mag, a bayonet lug, and a muzzle brake. There is no way I am going to butcher a historical firearm by removing illegal features just to get it into NY legally. This leaves the VEPR in 54r. Anything else that would be an option is just a more expensive version of a VEPR.
The VEPR only has one feature that makes it illegal under the SAFE Act and that is the thumbhole stock. Get rid of that without adding any other banned features, and it should be perfectly legal to bring into NY. The only problem with this is that there aren't a lot of aftermarket accessories for the VEPR. The biggest stumbling block here is the receiver itself. Notice how the rear of the receiver is angled. This means you can't just put a traditional butt stock on it. Fortunately, there is an adapter that will convert the angled receiver to a straight receiver, and then you can put a standard AK butt stock on it. The other issue is once you convert the stock to the traditional style, you need some kind of a grip behind the trigger. Obviously, a standard pistol grip is out of the question. Illegal!
So what next?
Make some kind of a spur to put behind the trigger? No, it won't be as "comfortable" to shoot as it would be with a pistol grip, but at this point, THAT ISN'T THE POINT! I want my MOTHER-EFFIN VEPR!!! I WANT TO SPIT IN THE EYE OF ANDY'S so-called SAFE Act!

What else could I do? Epoxy in the "thumbhole" of the thumbhole stock? Now it's no longer a "thumbhole" stock. It also isn't a "pistol grip", because you can't hold it like a pistol. Again, it wouldn't be as comfortable to hold or shoot as the original configuration, but again, THAT ISN'T THE POINT! I want my MOTHER-EFFIN VEPR!!!

Who knows how long you'll even be able to buy one of these if another POS anti-gun President gets elected!
Did I mention I WANT MY MOTHER-EFFIN VEPR???!!!

So I throw it out to y'all. Your thoughts?
I WILL get one, even if I have to get it custom-made. Anyone want to take bets?
