  • Another F*** The safe act rant....

So a god friend of mine has an AK he needed work done on it, it is non-complaint however he actually registered it legally instead of modifying it or violating the law. He went to 5 different FFL/Guns smiths and not one was willing to work on it. One took the time to call NYSP and was told that since it was not registered to them, it was only legal for him to possess it. He finally got it fixed by me, but he brought his registration and stayed here till it was finished. (half ass youtube wanna be guns smith I am). FUAC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !

Another sad reality of complying with the Safe Act. From what I know AK's never break so what was wrong with it. Friends don't let friends register.
I bought my sons out of state.

Good AKS don't, century arms had a crooked front sight since day one, a little heat and some physical persuasion i go it straighter, and drill and taped picatiny rail so he could mount an optic and not use a cheap side saddle mount.

Ya told him we should of just mounted an optic on it and call it a day, but he wanted the Irons for back up, zeroed better, but he still shot tighter groups with my SKS than he did his own AK lol.

That sounds ridiculous. FFL's/dealers are allowed to take these in, and also sell to law enforcement, so how the hell could it not be legal for them to work on it? And since when have the NYSP ever given out good advice about the SAFE Act?

                It's bull Peshitta!

They are all scared, and whats sad is one of the same FFLs received a pistol with 16 rounders for a CO buddy of mine because hes condiered LEO, but wouldn't service a legally registered Century Arms AKM

What stupidity! Then why can I leave a pistol for a gunsmith to work on for weeks at a time? It ain't on his permit???
Trooper doubly stupid. They don't know for sure. Bet they made up that reason out of their head.

I called the "gun guy" on talk1300 to ask him about this. Since your friend registered the AK, the gun guy said he would not have worked on it due to general principle against the safe act. If your friend had not registered it, and made it compliant in some way, he said he would have worked on it.

I guess what he is saying is that in his mind, registering your gun with the state is worse than modifying it so it does not come under the safe act and into the state's database.
