  • Hochul's Proposed CCW Laws

This hurts my head (and eyes) to read, but figured y'all might be able to glean something from it. I may be pretty naïve, but I don't see a lot of this surviving a lawsuit (which of course we'll have to pay for multiple times over).

I'm currently pretty pissed that I waited to get my CCW. Once Bruen hit SCOTUS, I decided to wait on applying in the event of any changes. Sadly, the changes we are most likely getting will be even worse than what I could have ever expected.

I call shenanigans!!! Ok so all these new proposed laws restricting where you can carry are BS. In order to get a permit the state is saying that you are trustworthy enough to not use it in a way to endanger oneself or others. So there is no need to stop legal permit holders from carrying in businesses, or playgrounds or anywhere else since the state has already determined you aren't a threat to yourself or others.

Ok saw this article and this is straight insane.

"According to the legislation released Friday, New York’s new system would require applicants to undergo 15 hours of in-person training at a firing range, sit down for an in-person interview, provide their social media accounts, provide contact information for household members, renew their license after three years and face monthly background checks. The bill also sets up an appeals process."

Oh and go into business that doesn't have a clear sign saying it's ok to carry will be a felony!

I was about to post a similar article.

Monthly background checks? What in the actual ****. This is 100% vindication. All they had to do was remove the "proper cause" requirement, and be done. But no, they are literally spitting in the face of the SCOTUS ruling.

If you apply for permit you will have to do in person interview with licensing officer and provide social media accounts for last 3 years to judge your character
they did include something so you don't violate law doing live fire.

Judges won't have time to be licensing officer if they gave to do in person interviews

If this nonsense stands, I'm waffling between saying **** it, I'm not jumping through these hoops, and **** it, I'm still going to apply because I'm not going to give them what they want.

Looks like monthly background checks for permit holders is a behind the scenes thing. Once a month they verify through their records that nothing new happened to disqualify you

                      No carrying in church?

NYS already thumbed their nose at SCOTUS once, and we got a broad sweeping ruling in the next NYS case. Since Hochul is doing it again, let's start an NFA case while the justices are still pissed.

Does anyone know how this plays out in real life? I doubt sheriff's will be enforcing this stuff. So the biggest concern is probably the state troopers. The state troopers have shown they're willing to arrest for SAFE act violations, so I'm skeptical they'll avoid charging under these new laws despite Bruen. So let's say you're an otherwise law abiding gun owner and you get busted for one of Hochul's new petty dictats. You get to court and plead not guilty and point out to the judge that the law is clearly unconstitutional under Bruen. Does the lower level judge end it there and dismiss charges, or do you have to appeal to a higher court? Every judge in the state has to know these cases are going to get tossed for anyone who wants to fight them. So with that knowledge, and their oath of office, are many of them going to go through with the charade and waste everyone's time and money? Is there any recourse for people who get dragged through the system despite everyone's knowledge that the cases will fall apart without any interest balancing level of scrutiny? Wouldn't it be malicious prosecution at this point?

Looks like even current CCW holders will have to complete the firearms training before they renew. I think there is also a written test you have to score 80% or better on.
