  • Redefining "Pistol Grip"

I'd be curious to see what usmcveteran and Norm DeGuerre think about this. It seems so vague and broad a definition that even a Garand would fit.

cGLdK5Xj.jpeg In related news, guns and ammo aren't going to come down in price or get easier to find anytime soon.

This makes my brain hurt lol.

first question we need answered is what is a grip? If something has to function as a grip in order to be classified as either a pistol grip or a forward grip (forward grip is a pistol grip that is forward of the trigger) then we need to know what a "grip" is. That is unclear. IMHO with my black and white filters on this is a clear case for void for vagueness. Without knowing what a "grip" is the citizen has to guess as to that meaning. That guessing has the consequence of unconstitutionally depriving that citizen of their rights. They are forced to "play it safe" since they don't know what's allowable and a reasonable and prudent person would not want to risk life and liberty.

I am sickened by the irony of this gun control legislation being written and passed into law by our "representatives", hiding behind a barrier of razor wire patrolled by ARMED forces.

Our Founding Fathers would be storming the place with their muskets.....

Another question: They say that all currently owned "AW's" and "large cap" mags are going to be grandfathered but no new manufacture/sale/transfer allowed. Between mags and firearms there has to be millions, if not 10's of millions, currently in possession by law-abiding citizens; if/when law passes, how are they going to determine what was legally owned prior to passage?

Oh yeah......mandatory registration takes care of that. If you're caught in possession of an unregistered, it's 10 years and 250K fine. And then, several years down the road when they decide we need even more common sense gun control, they can outlaw them completely and they'll have the lists to go out and round them up.

      Ain't happening here!

And........how does any of this prevent homicidal maniacs from committing acts of mass violence?

Like I said before, I do NOT authorize my "representatives" or any other representative from restricting my constitutional rights. That is above and beyond there powers unless a constitutional convention is in effect which it is not. The second amendment shall not be infringed. Determining what arbitrary characteristics or number of rounds are allowable overreach. The purpose of the second amendment is for individual self defense. So having a pistol grip, or ability to have more rounds both contribute directly to my ability to defend myself. I can be more accurate and need to reload less if the need arises.

The government concedes those facts because thats why they want to limit anything that makes firearms more effective at their role.

If we or the courts allow them to do this at a certain point firearms will no longer be effective for their purpose. At that time would the courts allow that ban outright because they aren't suitable for effective self defense anymore?

Redifining seems to be a stretch of the definition of the word. This new definition is so vague there's no way it could ever stand up in court because while it says a lot, it doesn't actually mean anything.

            Probably depends on the judge.
