Fire Mission: Pistol Brace Comment Period is Open!

Instead of the legally mandated 90 day comment period, the ATF has limited this comment period to 14 days....get on it! And share with everybody that you can.

If you're looking for ideas, this is what I submitted:

A majority of these "objective" factors are actually subjective.

"A large caliber firearm that is impractical to fire with one hand because of recoil or other factors, even with an arm brace, is likely to be considered a rifle or shotgun." < What is defined as "large caliber" and who determines that? What is defined as "impracticable to fire" and who determines that?

"A firearm that is so heavy that it is impractical to fire or aim with one hand, or so long that it is difficult to balance the firearm to fire with one hand, is likely to be considered a rifle or shotgun." < What is the definition of "impractical to fire or aim with one hand"? How does one determine what constitutes "difficult to balance the firearm"? People have different arm lengths, arm strengths, etc.

"If a brace is of a length that makes it impractical to attach to the shooter's wrist or forearm, then that may demonstrate that it is not designed as brace but rather for shoulder fire." < People of all sizes have different length arms and require different length braces....what is the defined length that "makes it impractical to attach to the shooter's wrist or forearm"? Who determines this dimension and where is it recorded within the ATF documentation?

"If the aim point when using the arm brace attachment results in an upward or downward trajectory that could not accurately hit a target, this may indicate the attachment was not designed as a stabilizing brace." < What the heck does this mean? How is this defined? Who defines it?

I could continue but you (hopefully) get the idea: A majority of this proposed regulation is subjective, ambiguous, and has no place being codified as "regulatory" language. If these objectives cannot be documented in a manner that are perfectly clear and leave no room for interpretation so that manufacturers and citizens can easily abide by them they have no place being approved.

Too bad they're illegal in NY (pistol over 50oz, magazine separate from the hand grip, etc.). I'll let you shoot mine if you ever make it down to visit......
