Teen used ‘ghost gun’ in California high school shooting


LOS ANGELES (AP) — The teenager who shot five classmates, killing two, at a Southern California high school used an unregistered “ghost gun,” Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva said Thursday. Villanueva told media outlets Thursday that 16-year-old Nathaniel Tennosuke Berhow’s .45 caliber semi-automatic pistol was assembled from gun parts and did not have a serial number.

The details are still being hashed out by the media. Among other things, the deceased father's firearms had all be confiscated by the state already, and no explanation of why has been provided. Plus, the rumor mill known as the media is saying that there were multiple ghost guns found in the house after the shooting and nobody is saying who's they are/were at this point. Plus, on top of all that, they're saying that the 'ghost gun' used in the shooting was actually a 1911. A 1911 is a pretty tricky build compared to something like a 80% Glock. I'm not even aware of any companies that sell a polymer 80% 1911 frame, so this was a metal home build??

The interwebz seem to be eyeing these reports with some justified suspicion, and unless things are further clarified I'm sure there are going to be plenty of conspiracy theories popping up in the near future. At least one obvious theory has already occurred to lots of people.

"Ghost Gun" is a pejorative and misleading term, meant to prejudice a Jury in viewing a product one has a lawful right to make
