  • New York to Ban Teachers from Carrying?

I didn't know any districts allowed teachers to carry.

Once again the rules for New York City get applied to the whole state despite the huge differences in culture, people, and police response times. I suppose I should have figured New Yorkistan would make this move after the Parkland Commission recommended that teachers be armed.

New York would ban teachers from carrying guns in school under a broad gun control package set to pass the Legislature on Tuesday.

Following the 2018 Parkland, Fla. school shooting, President Trump and the NRA called for teachers and school staff to be armed.

Vice News recently reported that at least 466 districts across the country adopted policies to allow it.

New York wants to go the other way.

“Right now under New York law, if a district decides it wants to arm school personnel, it can,” said state Sen. Todd Kaminsky, the Nassau County official sponsoring the bill to outlaw such moves. “I believe it’s misguided. It’s not focused on the real problem.”

It is (again) NY trying to preempt Federal Law with their own State Law. By passing this, no matter what Trump does (like ban abortion) we have our own laws to ensure our very own 'freedoms.'

With the entire NYS gov't on the Blue side, this state will personify the term 'resistance.'

oh...sorry, also nullify local laws...because they know better than you do. I think they should ban cops from having guns on campus, too. They should need to go back to station house, drop off firearm, and then respond to school. It's the only way to be truly safe.
