  • California Moves Into First Place

Will Cuomo allow California to hold the official title of "most insane and idiotic gun control laws"? I'm hoping he is willing to settle for second place. In the mean time, I doubt that these laws really mean anything to California gun owners anymore. Enforcement is going to become a joke. Reloading supplies are going to become hot commodities. Black markets and smuggling are going to become hobbies for the otherwise law abiding.

    http://www.breitbart.com/california/2018/01/01/california-ushers-2018-ammunition-control/

It is January 1, 2018, which means law-abiding Californians can no longer buy ammunition out-of-state or possess an unregistered AR-15 with a bullet button accessory.

Currently, law-abiding Californians must buy their ammunition from a licensed in-state ammunition dealer. This means that Californians who buy ammunition online must have that ammo shipped to a licensed in-state dealer and pay that dealer a fee when picking up the ammo.

These controls immediately lessen the supply of ammunition, thereby driving up the price for those who demand it. Also, these controls set the stage for phase two of ammunition control, which will consist of requiring a point-of-sale background check for ammunition purchases starting January 1, 2019. The point-of-sale background check will also carry a processing fee, which will drive the price of ammunition even higher.

These controls are in addition to the requirement that law-abiding Californians obtain a firearm safety certificate from the state before buying a firearm, endure a ten-day waiting period for gun purchases, pass a universal background check, register all firearms with the state, and live under the shadow of gun confiscation laws. There is an “assault weapons” ban, a ban on campus carry, and a new law against K-12 teachers being armed to shoot back if under attack at school.

In addition, the CA DOJ has yet to issue any of those "certificate for ammunition seller" so as it stands, only FFL's can currently sell ammo. Retailers that did sell ammo but are not FFL's cannot sell ammo until the DOJ begins issuing those seller certificates (eg; Walmart, local sporting goods stores, hardware stores, etc.).

The mail order ammo situation has me curious. I wonder what the federal laws are regarding ammo sales and distribution. If you're a regular Joe selling ammo from another state, the CA laws don't apply to you. So the California resident receiving the ammo is the only one at legal risk, and opening or screening mail is a federal crime right? So how does California enforce this?

How much ammo can a private citizen sell and mail before they get regulated by federal law?

Side question: why did many online retailers stop shipping ammo to New York?

Same way NY does: it's self-enforcing.....sheeple gun owners who are afraid to break the rules for fear the storm troopers will kick down their doors in the middle of the night.

I don't believe there are any federal laws regarding ammunition sales (other than ATF regulations regarding type of ammo such as AP, etc.)

'Cause their chickensh1t corporate lawyers told them not to for fear that king andy would come after them with a law suit, etc.

I predict there will be many road trips out of state for California gun owners.

Is California going to build a wall to keep all those cases of ammo from sneaking across the border?

LMFAO!!! Kalifornia took the princess' BS law and enforced it!! (Even though frankenfeinstein wrote the UNSAFE Act) So ... how much more evidence do the people need to see that the democrap party is a party of anti-Americans?? That same state became a sanctuary state AND the governor pardoned ILLEGALS because they were ILLEGALS. Kalifornia is making a stand against America as a republic by purposely ignoring FEDERAL LAWS and the US Constitution and should be dealt with an enemy of the U.S.. NY, CT, DE, D.C. and others should be dealt with as well. American military should be helping the Americans in those states and forcing out their govt's per the US Constitution. We'll see how well this law holds or how long it takes before there is a violent uprising in northern Kalifornia.
