Any other black powder shooters out there? Let's get this party started with 16th century technology all the way up to modern day smokepoles. Any questions or concerns feel free to ask, that's what these things are for. To gain knowledge and get better!

All I know is that you should clean the oil from the breech before loading the gun.......

Petroleum products and 'real' black powder reside form into an asphalt like substance that is a bear to remove. I don't know anything about the modern ML"s or I'd help out.

I have an 1860 Colt Army Revolver, but I can't shoot it because I refuse to apply for a pistol license in this state, for various reasons.

I can still find a use for my thumb, even though it no longer has a hole to finger.

Stainless Ruger Old Army.45 that I bought back in 1986. Remember that I could load it very hot. Had a better kick than a .44mag. Haven't shot it in some years since as I said in another thread, I hate cleaning firearms and old black powder needs to be cleaned quickly.

Been shooting a smoke pole for years, lots of fun. For starters I would get a CVA 50 cal. with shotgun primer ignition. Get triple 7 powder and you can clean it with warm soapy water. Get power belt bullets, you can get quite a few shots with them before they get hard to load due to fouling. Skip the sabots for now, powerbelts are much cleaner but disintegrate in a deer leaving a lousy blood trail. Move to the sabots with good bullets if your going to hunt with it.

I am looking into making my own black powder. Then looking into calibers and fierarms taht will take it well in a shtf mode.
The O/U shotguns are teh fist suspects.
It is a shame when people demanding tolerance, have no tolerance

there are many videos on this and it's legal to make but all you can have is fifty pounds with out a atf explosive licence. There's a lot to it but if you follow the steps of a safe procedure you'll be fine

Traditions makes kits that are either pistols or even a Kentucky long rifle in a cap lock instead of flintlock which would a good starter gun because you can find pyrodex everywhere just about

A inline is a good starter one like hunter said above. It's definitely a different animal and it truly makes you appreciate the shot because all you have is one at times lol
