  • Looking for a pellet pistol

We have a tree rat issue at our house; they're always getting into our garbage. I've used my Crosman airgun to take care of them in the past, but now I'm running into the problem of my boys getting older, expanding wandering space for them, and hands that get into everything.

I'm not tossing around the idea of getting a pellet pistol as I can keep it in the corner cupboard, away from them and out of trouble. My biggest problem is that my only experience with them was decades ago, and it was less than stellar. Has pellet pistol technology gotten any better? Are there pellet pistols out there that are accurate (and strong enough) to take out a squirrel that's more than 6" away?

Beer is like porn, you can buy it but it's more fun to make your own

I have to bend over too far

    I get a boner.

bareback every couple of days, GTG. Bareback, brokeback, same $hit!

I joined a support group to help me deal with my social anxiety but I just can't seem to work up the nerve to go to a meeting......

Intriguing, but I'm not so sure it'll fit in the cupboard very well.

I have a PX4 Storm Pellet Gun that I bought years ago that is a pretty accurate shooter with the right pellets. Some of the pointy tip hunting pellets won't feed properly, but most blunt nose .177 run good.

The only real drawback is that the CO2 leaks down over time. So if you leave it loaded in the garage and need it 2 weeks from now, chances are you'll probably be SOL. You can just leave a new cartridge inside the handle and puncture it when you need it if you really want. CO2 cans are pretty cheap.

I'd kind o flike to stay away from CO2 if possible, for that exact reason. I'd like it to work any time I go to use it and not have to worry about it sitting and leaking.

That would probably work well. I bought the one I did purely for practice prior to getting my PP. I wanted some thing that felt real, and you'd be hard pressed at a quick glance or even a good long look to tell the pellet gun apart from a real PX4

I did a little more digging and came across this guy. http://www.airgundepot.com/hatsan-mo...ir-pistol.html It's a little more expensive than I was originally wanting to pay (or can pat at this point), but at 700fps, it's the fastest pistol I've found so far.

The .22-caliber version has a max velocity of 450 fps. This is 150 fps slower than the velocities shown on the Hatsan manual & website. This is based on a significant amount of testing done by our tech department.

                          Stick with a pump action.

Yeah, I'd stick with the .177 since that's what my air rifle uses.

Maybe the problem is the wife then not the tree rats.
