  • Indiana Mass Shooting Averted

The reports in seeing say the 22 year old kid carrying concealed braced himself against a support and hit the mass shooter with 8 of 10 shots from 40 yards away across a food court.

Has anyone heard what pistol he used?

I was thinking of his cannon.

Glock 9mm but no model number yet.

Time to test your skills. 10 shots in under 10 seconds with 8 body hits at 40yards.
    Can you do it?

definitely going to train more at that kind of distance. certainly can't with the 380, i can usually do body hits like that with a 9mm shield or bigger though, but admittedly not that fast and that's after i'm warmed up. very impressive to do cold, with that adrenaline and under those conditions, from concealed that quickly. I certainly couldn't do that.

We typically don't train for this because, as good practitioners of armed self defense, if the trouble is 40 yards away......you should be running from the situation, not engaging.

i'll be honest, i don't typically train for it because it's hard. i don't have bigger steel plates to shoot at that far, so when i'm shooting longer shots like this on an 8" plate, it's frustrating. so i go to cardboard, but then i'm missing that instant feedback..

i agree that we should often only be expecting to engage in close proximity, and the majority of conflict requiring such responses is in just a few feet. but i still always have seen value in longer engagement distances, this being one. it's not just our own asses we look to defend.

Correct T we NYers are supposed to run and hide but personally if I’m at a mass shooting and I can get clear 50yard shots off I’m going for it.

Pretty sure this test will be called The Elisjsha Drill from now on, and lots of people are going to be practicing it.

Side note: I haven't heard much about the shooter in this case, which is good because it's definitely better to focus on the kid who stopped the shooter. But I couldn't help but notice all of the victims seemed to have Hispanic last names. No idea if that was just a coincidence or if it speaks to the shooter's motives.

Actually I’ve been reading that they are calling it the “Dixon Drill”

The GCL has a steel torso at 50 yards on the one end of the pistol range. Guessing it's going to be getting a lot more use the next few months.

The MSM is too busy vilifying the good guy with the gun because the mall was a gun free zone.

          The Dixon Drill.
          45 yards
          On a timer random beep
          not using a support

only hits counted were on body and one was on the line.
The one with the red dot surprised me. I thought that would have been better than open sights

Is 45 yards back past the gravel road?
