A 27-year-old Victor man has been charged with misdemeanor reckless endangerment after deputies say he failed to remove a bullet from a handgun he was cleaning, which discharged and fired a bullet through his home and into his neighbor’s home.

The neighbors were home at the time of the incident, which happened Wednesday at 6:10 p.m., but no one was injured, according to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.

Joshua Lagatella-Cronk, of 7696 County Road 41, was cleaning his Glock handgun Wednesday but failed to check the chamber before taking it apart, deputies allege. When he pulled the trigger in order to take it apart, the gun fired.

Lagatella-Cronk was issued an appearance ticket for reckless endangerment in the second degree and released. He is scheduled to appear in Victor Town Court at a later date to answer the charge.

What are the odds they let this guy keep his permit?

I'm not sure, probably not too good. I wonder if the slide flew forward or if he let go of those tabs before it finished cycling.

I guess I just assumed that it went through two windows, but I suppose even that is a questionable prospect.

Recoil did an article covering how well pistol bullets penetrate different surfaces of a vehicle. Much to my surprise their research showed that it is highly unlikely that a pistol round could penetrate two layers of safety glass to hit someone on the other side of the car. House windows aren't as tough as the windows on a car, but there is also more distance involved.

You'd think I would know better than to assume anything when it comes to a news report involving a firearm.

Also, to disassemble a Glock, you do not need to pull the trigger while holding the tabs down. Your dry fire first, then pull the slide slightly back and push the tabs down. So there is no way his slide few off.
