  • Grate Wall of Fire

I know a fire place insert or wood stove are best for efficiency but I do love a natural fire place. I have been trying to get more heat out of it and bought a fireback ( cast iron plate you put in back of fireplace to help radiate more heat) and now the Grate Wall of Fire grate.

I got it today and couldn't resist trying it out and have to say it holds more wood, I have to stoke fire less, and more heat is radiated back into the room since the burning wood and coals are held up higher.

So far I really like it and will be trying it out more as time goes by.

One thing I have noticed though is if you really want heat coming out you still have leave pockets for the fire to breathe.

Looks great. Soap stone is expensive but a couple of large slabs will store heat for up to 24hrs.
It is a shame when people demanding tolerance, have no tolerance

That is a NICE looking bunch of meat!

I can still find a use for my thumb, even though it no longer has a hole to finger.

I could have been enjoying his nuts.

Puts out surprising amount of heat, probably at least doubles efficiency
