I Need A New Job!!!!

I've been working in the same warehouse at night now for the past 10 years. I do not hate my job But I hate the place I work because of the politics! That place is like the root of all evil in my life!!! Problem is its the only thing I have experience at but they are all low paying jobs so if I leave I go right back down to nothing an hour. I was lucky enough that when I got hired thay paid good money and have been able to get increases threw out the years. I also only work a 4 day week which helps. Basically for me to leave I need to make at least $20 an hour to be able to even think about putting food on the table and pay the bills. Here is what I can do.

I have a 2 year electrical construction and maintence degree with no experience. Graduated with a 3.4 on presidents list from HVCC but that was in 2002.
Very mechanically inclined. Have a small background working on heavy equipment. Have done a lot of my own car work over the years, engine swaps etc. Rebuilt a lot of vintage large chainsaws and equipment.
15 years of forklift expirence
Very good computer skills
I can practically run the warehouse that I work at now.
Been driving class A and B trucks at work for the last 8 years. No license but I could literally get it in a few weeks.
Merchandising, delivery and some sales experience.

I look at the above and feel like an almost 32 year old with no skills and no place to go. I would like my own business but haven't the slighest idea on how to do that or where the money would even come from. Someone help me!!!

With your electrical knowledge you might have a good chance. I don't know the contact info, but maybe this link will help. If we were hiring I would do everything I could do to help you out, but unfortunately, we have layoffs right now.

Thanks for the heads up. I have an account with them and have applied for a few jobs with then just this past year and nothing ever panned out.

What burns me up is over the summer I did a 4 hour interview with global foundries in malta. 2 days later they call me up, tell me i'm basically hired. All they needed to do was check my references and I was good to go as long as they came back clean. 1 week went by, 2 weeks went by and nothing nada zip. I tried calling and left a msg and no returned call. I emailed 3 people with read receipt and didn't even so much as get a read receipt back!!! Wanna talk about a joke!!!! best part is my brother in law works there and put the word out for me. I guess they fell threw on the hire because they decided to let some managers etc go a few days after my interview.

I swear, this is a hard area to get ahead. My GF was a manager for the Hyatt when she moved up here...to be with me...and she has had exactly the same experience that you have had.

I transferred to this area years ago. It was a no brainer. If I were to get laid off, I would have to move...which might not be a bad thing, but would suck overall.

IDK man...it's extremely frustrating!!! I was as good as hired at global and got screwed!!!! I keep applying and my brother in law keeps pulling for me and even his boss has been trying to get them to grab me but nothing is working. I don't have many option because no one pays anything anymore. I cant even go back and join the union because for the next 4ish years I wont make anything and need to get paid a certain amount to pay the bills. No one with electrical jobs wants me since I graduated 12 years ago now and never used the degree because they can just hire a new graduate. I guess im just meant to suffer working for the man being a slave to his empire and unhappy forever!!!

I've actually wanted to start my own beverage center for a long time now. I wouldn't mind some storage units either

Dude...are you serious? Storage units have always been my dream. I'm not kidding. Back when I first moved up here, I saw the need for it, and never acted. It still is a viable business.

No employees or utilities unless you go for controlled environment.

Well how do we get started? I was thinking storage cause everyone always needs it and I could continue to work my job to supplement income until it gets off ground.
