Adding to my Swiss collection, just picked up a Schmidt-Rubin 1896/11 Rifle. I've got a Schmidt-RubinM1911 but the Model 1896/11 is a rifle of the 1911 pattern built from an earlier Model 1896. Barrels and sights were replaced to be compatible with the new GP11 cartridge and a pistol grip mated to the stock along with a new 6-round magazine and appropriate trigger guard. The M1911 is identical but the stock is made with a pistol grip incorporated into the design and it as a straight butt plate as opposed to the curved butt plate of the 1896. The one I have is a 1901 manufacture Model 1896 no way to tell which year it was converted (there were 135K 1896's converted to 96/11's between 1912 and 1920, haven't found a way to date when the conversion was done).
My new girl in walnut.....

Spliced in "pistol grip" (superb craftsmanship):

Accuracy is due to the barrel being free-floated. Here's a shot of the aluminium bushing in the stock which allows the barrel to free float:

The rifling is mint and the crown is pristine:

Original issue sling:

And the best part about all Swiss rifles....finding the troop tag under the butt plate:
