Got an hour or so at the range this morning to finally shoot some of the rifles I've acquired recently; took the 1903A3 Springfield and the M1896 Mauser out for some fresh air on this trip.
A fellow club member took a break from shooting his .22 target pistol and offered to spot for me (ORGC has the BEST group of members). Having a spotter saved me a Peshiltaload of time, ammo, and walking. We got both guns dialed within 5 shots at 100 yards, windage dead on and elevation a bit high as both of the rear sights were bottomed out. Moving out to 200 yards I managed to ring the steel on the first shot with each gun and then had time left to put 5 rounds each on target. Both guns shoot way better than my old eyeballs ever will. I probably could have tightened the groups up a bit more had I been afforded more time to play but I had other things to do today.
Springfield: (stupid flier)

As I was packing up, my spotter went back to shooting his 22 caliber pistol (semi-auto with a red dot). I watched him dump 2 full mags into a 4" circle at 100 yards and then hit a 10" steel plate at 200 yards on his 3rd try.....freehand with a freaking 22 pistol! (and I thought I was a pretty decent shot).
More range reports to follow as I get out with the rest of the collection, stay tuned
