Oh Lord, they are wonderful to shoot and they are accurate! The McMillan stock or the heavy military match wood stocks are required for triple lugs with socket head caps screws. It drives the cost up a bit but takes a 1 MOA rifle to less than a 1/2 MOA rifle.
I know there are a lot of great rifles on the market, but I just love shooting the M1A purpose built military rifle. And its 30 cal so it still tickles my fancy!

I sold my M1A sometimes I miss it. Fun to shoot and special to those who love them but also they are complicated.
We had other people in the other forum (the dark side) that also spent little fortunes and we came to the conclusion that no matter how much money we put into them they cannot
be made consistent shooters. They will do well but one must remain reasonable with expectations.
Good for marksman and many other roles but in the end I think we expect too much of a platform that is not designed for extreme accuracy no matter what we do.

I suggest that if one wants a super consistent shooter that shoots like a bolt action, the 308 AR from Les Baer is probably the most accurate 308 auto-loader the money can buy
and they do not need extra work or anything else. The issue is getting one in nySAFE compliance unless you already have a lower and can put a Giselle trigger and
make it compliant or whatever one needs to do.
