CMP Customer service just incase you wanto blow him in

This kind of Peshitta just makes it harder for legitimate collectors to obtain CMP rifles.

Being relatively ignorant in the ways of C&R and the CMP, I would assume that this guy is using his C&R to buy rifles supposedly for his own collection and is then offloading them to the general public? Why is that not allowed? .

There are shooting requirements to purchase CMP store rifles. The CMP's goal is to promote the shooting sports, so in an attempt to get the rifles it sells into the hands of potential competitors, it requires purchasers to have competed in a CMP sanctioned event. The CMP also sells these rifles at a nice price. Head to a local gun show and you won't find a Garand for as cheap as the CMP sells them at any of the vendor tables.

While probably not illegal, it's really a crappy thing for this guy to be doing. It's undercutting the mission of a great program that supports our 2A rights and promotes the shooting sports.

He is an 01 FFL and has to lie on the purchase form to obtain them.

He does say "See CMP website for details" and the prices he quotes are the same as CMP website, perhaps he is just advertising the fact that he'll handle transfers if anyone is interested in purchasing from CMP following the proper process and needs an FFL to handle the transfer? Come on Ray, you're usually the voice of reason when it comes to things possibly not being what they appear to be....

You can go to the CMP forum and they sell them all the time. They frown upon it but that is why they have the requirements to purchase to weed out dealers and people selling them just for profit. I bought one and had it sent to my business. I talked to the lady on the phone to explain my situation (live in NY, business in PA) and she really did not care that I was an 01 FFL. But then again I was a customer before I had my business so that may be the reason why. Oh and it was and IH Garand that I got! Love it!!

This is irritating but normal and the price he is selling the HRA for is less than market value for a reseller. The CMP cannot and will not control this activity but to cut down on abuse they had a 10 rifle per year maximum that an individual can purchase.

The recent release of wash machine rifles sold by the CMP went for about $1000 for rack grade. If you look on GB or at the shows the resellers are getting a $500 to &800 premium for them even as mixmasters.

F'ing vultures.....I've heard of some gun stores having their employees obtain their 10 rifles each year (as qualified, individual citizens), and flip them with a quick 50% markup. It's SOOOOOOO not what this program is all about.

Only 5.5 million of them out there.....get one while you can!
